Hey everyone! I’m a 21-year-old up-and-coming animator currently working on an indie animated series, and I’m looking to start transitioning away from AI-generated voices toward actual human voice actors.

I’ve been using ElevenLabs for the voices so far, but I’m starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable and "icked" with using AI voices for the characters, if that makes any sense. I’d really like to have actual people bring these characters to life and give them some personality. (Also I wanna make it clear. EVERYTHING else; The visuals, character designs, scripts, etc. is done by ME. Not AI) ​

That said, I’ve already established voices for the characters using the AI voices, and these voices are what I imagine them sounding like in my mind. So I would ideally like the human voices to sound somewhat similar to the existing voices. If you have a voice that you think fits the character better, I’m absolutely open to hearing samples and discussing it.

As far as payment goes, I want to be upfront: I’m not working with a huge budget. I’m 21, I have my own place and bills to pay, and this is an indie project I’m funding myself. I obviously want to compensate anyone who works with me fairly, but I can’t afford professional studio-level rates.

For a budget, I'm thinking about:

$15-30 for a Minor Character

$30-50 for a Recurring/supporting character

$75-100 for more major/central characters.

(This would be Per Episode)

But again, I’m definitely open to discussing/tweaking samples, rates, payment arrangements, and what would work for both of us.

I am coming here for advice and feedback from the Jurassic community before I commit to anything.

I have posted on here before that I plan to do a rewrite of Jurassic World Dominion, as I hated the original movie. My problem is, the voices for the the characters. I'm not using subtitles/captions. That's just garbage. And I personally can't voice act for shit. Trust me, if I tried it would be awful and totally break the subversion.

So I want to ask what the general opinion of using programs like ElevenLabs is. I've already used it for my own personal projects (Original characters, not the voices of actors) And I wanna hear what the general opinion on this topic is.

I hear a lot of mixed opinions. Some people say that it's just pure garbage, others say it's fine as long as you do the rest of the creative work yourself (which I will), similarly to those "Muldoon's Log" videos.

However, if this is just a bad/disrespectful idea, I WILL refrain from doing it as much as possible and search for possible VAs for the project.

Hi. Ever since I watched Dominion back in 2022, I was DEEPLY unsatisfied with it. And I would like to take a jab at not only writing, but animating a full length rewrite film. I'm looking for some ideas/suggestions for what to change and or remove before I fully commit to a script
