PSA about X-Lab bikes… their sizing sucks.

I bought an X-Lab RS5 online. Used their sizing guide.

The thing came and the seat post won’t lower to minimum height due to the bend in the frame. Now I am on the hook for return shipping to the online bike shop I bought it from.

Would strongly advise against buying one of these if you don’t get to try it in store.

My X-Lab RS5 came drastically oversized… the sizing sucks.

Ordered a size small RS5 for my wife online. She is 5’3, and the size small is for 5’2 to 5’6. It arrived. The seat post can’t go all the way to the minimum height marked on the seat post due to the bend in the frame.

DO NOT TRUST X-LAB SIZING.

This is incredibly sloppy, as they use a carbon seat post, so I can’t even shorten it.

These are rookie mistakes. You can make a great frame, but putting it all together seems to be an issue.

Now I’m on the hook for shipping this thing back. :/

Weird a** rear wheel size on 2021 Cannondale Synapse. Is this wrong?

I have tried consulting Google, and my LBS, and can’t seem to get any good advice.

I’m a fatty boombalatty, and I just bought a used 2021 Cannondale Synapse 105 (alloy model) with the intention to upgrade the rear wheel, and bike away some of my boombalattage.

The rear wheel size seems to be 130x9mm QR, which is an odd size. I was going to get a 36 or 40 spoke Velocity rear wheel, but the QR wheels only come in 10mm quick release.

I have seen some stuff on converting to a thru axle. Very open to that, as I would prefer it, but I just want to get a super durable wheel, and can’t find anything in the listed size.

Am I doomed to a custom build only?

Oils? Copper Salts? Is this safe?

I suspect it is just oils/tails, but this is a wet-dog-adjacent tails smell that has been plaguing me. It starts to come out pretty early in the distillation. Is this an issue?

My still is a retrofitted Vevor with a taller column and an upgraded copper coil.

Biking over weight limit… how unsafe?

I have an Endurace CF7. I got a bit fat. And by a bit fat, I mean that I burned myself out on riding, got a stressful job, and gained 100 lbs.

I’m a big guy. I used to weigh over 500lbs. At my minimum, biking a ton, I was ~280, and I’m now ~380, and it’s time to fix this shit to dodge the peptides.

Now that I have answered all of the questions I was inevitably going to get, here is my actual question:

At 120lbs over weight limit, I’m debating if it is safer to buy a cheaper used aluminum bike to ride until I lose weight, or if I should just risk it, and bike on my bike.

When I was at my biggest, I rode a Specialized bike over limit, and I broke some spokes, upgraded the rear wheel, and I survived to tell the story. If I need to upgrade the wheels, I’m not concerned about that. I’m just worried my girth will bring me to the earth with a frame break, or something catastrophic.

I know the official answer is that it’s risky, but I don’t know how risky it is compared to another risky bike.
