Breaking into the SQL world?

Hi there,

First off - aplogies if this is the wrong sub to post this question. If it is, please let me know where a good place would be.

I'm tinkering with the idea of breaking into the SQL world as a career. I was wondering how the job market is for SQL / DBA's is currently? Does entry level still exist? Any places (online and low cost/free preferrably) that anyone would recommend as a starting point? A little about my background:

I've worked in IT for 20+ years, mostly on the network/systems administration and engineering side. I've built and installed more SQL servers than I can count (just never touched or managed the actual SQL side of it) and am familiar with it how works both as itself and as a backend interacting with a front end. A few years back I took a 6 month coding boot camp and of all the languages I learned, SQL was my favorite and the one I actually viewed as (for lack of a better word) "fun". I enjoyed being tasked with "here are several tables, and we want to present data from the following columns from the following tables in the following format" (generically speaking).

Admittedly it's been quite a good while since I've tinkered with it so that's why I'm here. Hoping to get some advice/pointers of decent resources that will help me starting dipping my toes back in so I can start working toward moving away from SysAdmin work to DBA work. Thanks in advance for any direction/pointers/advice anyone is willing to provide.

Export Chat from Specific User for litigation

Hi there

Sole admin for a small company and this is my first time having to use purview/ediscovery. I need to export all chats from a specific user in a defined date range. All of the search results I find don't seem to be very helpful or are out of date. The closes result I've come to is using the "Create Case" function (Where I'm able to run queries against the user mailbox and SharePoint site), but there is mention of Teams being stored in an Azure Cosmos DB, which I can't seem to add/find as a place to run the searches. Any help in would be appreciated.

Used Fire Extinguisher?

Been looking at Portland.gov and Metro’s website and it seems a bit unclear on how to properly dispose of a used fire extinguisher. Anyone have experience this area?

Gotta be an easier way

“Add 5ml of solution A and B to every 1L in your aero garden.”. Is there a better way? In the US, typically don’t measure in liters, but even with converting and filling up a gallon jug, it eats through the food very fast. Then I have to add food. Does anyone know if there are any aero garden friendly products out there where it’s like “Fill your tank, add 3 capfuls of this and walk away until the machine tells at you again”?

GARLIC GROWERS!!

Lend me your scapes. Not really. I typically grow garlic over the winter and have used straw/hay (whatever Portland Nursery carries) and this past winter was busy for me. I like growing garlic because it’s such a plant and forget until around harvest time thing. Nature does all the heavy lifting. I’m curious to know what other area gardeners cover their winter garlic with. I don’t love the straw/hay because it too flowers and looks very much like garlic sprout in its early stages. This year I decided to be safe and wait for the garlic stalks to become obvious before weeding, but it was A LOT. Plus I’m concerned I might have fucked a few plants when removing the straw/hay from the bed. So my question - what do you use that isn’t straw/hay to cover your winter garlic?
