Reccomendations

Who else has my taste in donghua? Also, this is stuff you should watch if you have similar taste.

In no particular order,

No Doubt in Us

No Doubt in Us - I usually dislike political drama, but I appreciate this one’s approach to romance — discovering more about one another, and learning to understand each other. also the switch between chibi animation and regular animation is chefs kiss and definitely made the political intrigue digestible for my tastes.

soul land (SL)— honestly, it definitely peaks At shrek academy and downgrades after the tournament arc, but that not the point. It’s one of the most endearing donghua to me because of the bonds. most mainstream donghua now is tailored to adrenaline-junkies, and this is a trend that is following almost everyone in the world: social media, consumer content, stocks, urbanization— it’s all a loss of the slow life, the life where we don’t live for the rush, but for life itself.

Now, SL is far from the slow life, but one thing it does contain is the relationships. The bonds that you cant get just from looking for fights and adrenaline all the time. what SL captures best that alsmost No other donghua I’ve watched does is RELATIONSHIPS. The shrek 7 stick together for their lives, and they go through almost everything together( albeit a few arcs), and that is what I love. And THAT is why I didn’t drop it, even though it fell off. It’s because eben though the story or plot and pacing may have fallen off, the RELATIONSHIPS DIDNT. They still did everything together, and fought for love as a main goal. Ok if you haven’t realized — im basically a sucker for love. Not the sensual love, but ENDEARING love.

if I could describe one word to describe SL, so you don’t have to read the top blob, it is this: endearing.

stuff I didn’t like:

Throne of seal (why? Honestly, I just don’t like the western style setting of the story. Personal and ethnical preference.)

Also, if anyone has similar taste, hit me up (hmu).

I’m always looking for people with shared ideals to connect with.
