For reasons of fire risk and the fact that the disposable bbq is a ground scorching POS some 20 years ago I invested in a couple of portable diversifying camp stoves (run on lollysticks, compressed clean wood pellets such as cat litter free flow stuff) and charcoal etc

these have a small battery and send air through a channel (double skin) and vent at the top to help (very successfully) fuel gases creating a siphoning secondary burn, so very efficient.

They come in various sizes, mine was big enough for a big pan to go on it, even to boil tapped maple to make syrup, pull out in a park and camp, it runs on 2AA's and cold fast and we'll whilst being much safer to place and use as a portable unit when out and about.

the likes of Lidl / Aldi now sell a chinesium version started up to justify what is a ridiculously simple and cheap thing to make in reality.

With things getting hotter, here is your reminder to scour stock later in the season when you see them for sale, (it's a small motor, a metal blade fan stuck on top a speed controller often merely high/ low inputs ..but if you see one for around £30-£40 it makes for a very good summer and emergency use bit of kit, ..the smoke is minimal because of the motor and fan plus very fuel-efficient and the falsified effect makes for a very clean burn with reasonable fuel.

I generally use twigs and scraps, a bit of scavenging is a 30 min fry from dry fuel so a backpackers delight.

I use to take it to the park on scorching hot days and not burn dry grass with or without a protective mat underneath..

there are options to potentially be able to carry on in approved safety, and this is the sort of kit the council should be looking at and approving for zoned use, cooking with this in a semi crowded area is not generally going to cause inconvenience to anyone once you have familiarise how to use it to best effect at home.

It's a bit of a trip and I wish to be as mercenary as possible with our purchases, I'm a heavy consumer of rice for dietary health and gut reasons.

If anyone is popping in and they have a stack, please take a note of the price which they do cheaper by the 10kg bag to a max of 3 on savings!

For context: it typically only needs 4 rinses for every 2 cups I steam, (so roughly 2 litres of water that I can use to rinse and then we-use around sapling Sizemore trees I'm growing.

When I have bought budget rice (morrisons, Lidl) etc, it needs between 12 and 16 rinse s to achieve the same levels as the laila (blue bag or gold) which can mean wasting up to 8 litres of water compared to 2, and a lot more time.

(I've been eating g rice and basic seasoning heavily to get my gut fit these past 2 years by eating it several times a day, cooked and chilled in the fridge which helps it lightly ferment (more gut bacteria) and I'm eating 2 tubs per day (making 8 cups of rice at a time in the instantpot) along with furikake and fine cut veggies, basically it's given me my life back after decades of undiagnosed illness and reset my gut (so I don't wish to regress)

To my chagrin it's not because I like a good curry, it's bland and it works.

For those of you with tiny gardens who aren't aware (and that even applies to some areas bin men on a national scale) ..you CAN use your regular "general household waste bin" for this purpose anyway, size of the twigs thrown in still matters (diameter, go check the site) because hydraulics on the bin wagon are tough but a bitch to repair when silly buggers throw unsuitable crap in a bin.I

Therefore, if you are not brimming full your bin (make sure the lid closes and other compliance) general waste under old UK law still stands, your garden is your household, this it qualifies.

Yes recycling is good, however even landfills need other matter to rot things down last they go anaerobic.

Dried waste (cut up to release moisture faster) and the lid left open overnight if there's nothing food based in there that attracts vermin allows condensation to escape.and dry the garden leaves, twigs etc faster without liquid "farage" at the bottom of the wheelie bin (yup garage is a word that got into the dictionary / vernacular some years back courtesy of the comedian Mark Thomas (look it up)

Russia needs to pay for every coin of every countries expenditure in assisting ukraine, as well as rebuilding ukraine itself, that won't happen so taking floating hulls with potential and acknowledged strength of design / youth make sense when we strip them of the ability to launch further wars come the inevitable Russian landmass territorial break ups that will happen off the back of Russia sinking.

Mini season rewards (may or may not be cheaper) have previously counted towards the main season accumulation to access level 150+ rewards.

Therefore don't simply "chug" reward page items costing tickets in a "gotta catch em all" frenzy, build into your planning that at least one mini seasons worth of reward tickets will help you plan to leave more dross behind unclaimed and hopefully send a pertinent message to Bethesda that cheap filler, be it in dog food seasonal rewards belongs in the shit bin where it belongs.

The recent rip daring mini season rewards for example meant I could leave 16 or so shitty main season ticket eating "rewards" behind unclaimed (dross including player titles and naff icons, this season scrappy resigned cosmetic urinals etc)

Hold off splurging on everything people and have more for the 150 attainment or to simply have enough to clear the mini season rewards in the time limited availability.

We went to the barbican and wandered yet to be seen streets nooks and alley's daughter wanted me to try a chipper she had been impressed by (harbourside) of course we forgot every man and his dog would be scarfing down fish n chips today meaning rushed service, big queues and possibly not the best chips due to oil fryers taking a pounding and not necessarily heating properly with so many cold plunges of raw chips..

So we went hungry and thought we'd ask the collective plymouth / Borg mind.

Thing is I've been spoilt for good fish n chips in small Scottish villages as a kid so tend to turn my nose up at inland offerings, so being back on the coast, I'm keen to see what's fresh and good, you have a lot of chippies Plymouth 🤷 so I don't know where to start.

I don't eat cod (tasteless) love haddock, BUT I tend to eat haddock related family (a lot of) and mackerel which I am crackers for, thus looking for catch variety beyond the 2 mains.

Chips? ..good non pale, preferably dripping fried but unlikely here maybe?

And scraps? ..because if I'm going to jump off the dietary "martyr" track for some fast food, I'd prefer it's second to none, going the whole hog and not merely discovered after several years of bad chippie experience.I
