[Hiring] D2D salesmen in the Winchester, VA. area
I'm a team leader and recruiter for Rockland Roofing, and we’re hiring 1099 (not W2) workers for door-to-door (D2D) sales roles.
The bad:
- No base pay.
- You’ll be knocking on strangers’ doors.
- Timeline to payout is normally 3-10 months
- You’ll be inspecting roofs for storm damage.
- Most new salesmen fail.
The good:
- ZERO non-compete clauses/agreements. We're confident in what we offer and that we don't need to legally trap you.
- You (salesman) earn 60% of profit.
- We allow a draw of $500 per signed contingency that's also accepted by the PA and filed with insurance. Max $10,000/mo draw.
- Unlimited/uncapped earnings.
- Inspect, sign, enter data, and do scope of work... No adjuster meetings, no material ordering, no project managing, no supplementing.
- No quotas, no targets. You're driven by your desire to earn commissions, not by us.
- You control your schedule; work when you want to.
In most cases, that 60% of profit works out to 14-20% gross. An average job earns the salesman a commission of around $3,000-$3,500.
Our overhead is 10% and PA fee is 10%. No per-job admin fees or other nonsense.
Based on past performances, we expect top producers to average 20-40k/mo through storm season if they work it like a 40-hr occupation.

Quick overview: You’ll find old roofs in areas with recent hail, and we have access to apps to help with both of those tasks. Knock on the doors of those homeowners, pitch the offer for a free inspection and explain the process. Inspect the roof, and if there’s damage then you’ll ask for a signature if they agree that it makes sense to start an insurance claim. If it’s approved, you’ll return months later to show shingle color options and get a signature for the scope of work document.

We’re proud to say that our salesmen earn above industry standard for percent of profit, which is 50%.
And in case you know the industry, our overhead is 10% and PA fee is 10%. No per-job admin fees or other nonsense.
Based on past performances, we expect top producers to average 20-40k/mo through storm season if they work it like a full-time occupation.
More average or typical salesmen will probably land in the 4-12k range, and overly nervous or poor social-aptitude salesmen will likely earn zero.
This opportunity is best for individuals who either have sales experience and can spare at least one day per week to knock on doors, or those with a pleasant demeanor, great social aptitude, and willingness to learn.
