Around here - realistically what is the ceiling for gas prices, is it unlimited?

Obviously gas prices keep going up and up because of the war in Iran, but realistically do they have a ceiling or do they just keep climbing like everything else? Right now where I live, gas is 5.29 a gallon, we are forecasted to see gas between 6 and 7 dollars a gallon by this summer. Does it go past 7 dollars a gallon? Could Americans see the national average as high as $10.00 a gallon?

And if it just keeps going up, what does that do to the economy as a whole? Would this cause the full collapse of industry / transportation etc? Trying to just understand maybe what we are looking at - is this something that would completely cause the destruction of society if say gas prices went to $15 to $20 a gallon or higher....

Indie-pop favorites Cults will headline Saturday night at SilverVox Film & Music Festival

*** SATURDAY JUNE 20th

New York's CULTS have spent fifteen years perfecting the bittersweet anthem — songs that sound euphoric on the surface but cut you open underneath.

Formed in 2010 by Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion while both were students in New York City, the duo broke through almost immediately with their viral debut "Go Outside," earning both Best New Music honors from Pitchfork and a deal with Columbia Records quicker than most bands get a rehearsal space. Their self-titled debut landed in the top 50 albums of 2011 and launched them onto stages alongside Pixies and Vampire Weekend.

What followed was a decade of fearless evolution, resulting in five studio albums that never sounded like the same band twice. Their 2022 TikTok breakout "Gilded Lily" introduced them to an entirely new generation, while their 2024 album To the Ghosts is among the most emotionally precise records of their career.

Live, CULTS bring a full band and a sound that is bigger, louder, and more alive than anything their recordings suggest, while Follin commands the stage with a presence that stops rooms cold.

CULTS’ Saturday night headlining slot sits within a music lineup with additional acts to be announced in the coming weeks, alongside 125 film premieres and screenings, in-person filmmaker Q&As, and the festival’s entertainment industry talks and panels programming.

Previously announced marquee programming includes “Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror,” with director Linus O’Brien, son of Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O’Brien, attending for a live Q&A, followed by a presentation of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”; Sundance 2026 and SXSW 2026 official selection “Joybubbles”; and SXSW 2026 premiere “Their Town,” directed by Katie Aselton and written by Mark Duplass; alongside a hometown homecoming concert from American Idol breakout star Rae Boyd.

The Learning Experience Daycare

Hello everyone, i’m curious as to if anyone has experience with the learning experience daycare in Winchester. I’ve had interesting interactions with the owner so far but I’m trying to figure out if it is the right choice for us. I appreciate insight from families who use it and employees.

Trying to keep busy

Hey everyone, This is a bit unorthodox but I just got back home from Virginia tech for the summer and I'm looking for volunteer opportunities, part-time work, or really anything productive where I can help out and stay busy. I'm open to a lot of different things like community work, tutoring, helping local businesses, manual labor, events, animal shelters, camps, office work, etc. I'm reliable, willing to learn, and have a flexible schedule. I'm mainly just looking to meet people, gain experience, and do something meaningful over the summer. lf anyone knows of places looking for help or has recommendations around the area, please let me know I would much appreciate it.

Please recommend me sit-down restaurants for large groups of people!

I have family coming into town for my son's HS graduation, we're looking at about 10-15 people.. I know most places can accommodate that, so I'm looking for relatively affordable/cheap spots that wont be too crowded and have a good menu variety.

Edit: Thanks to everyone responding! This is great, I’m sure we’ll find something among these options!

Local News on New Business?

Is there a news site or group that does news similar to The Burn in Ashburn out in Winchester / Frederick County? Looking for something to get updates on new businesses coming to the area, places closing, etc.

Any Navy Federal employees have insights?

I am currently in the process for potentially working for Navy Federal through the contractor Tential in Winchester, for reference I live in Front royal and work at Walmart right now.

Walmart has been sucking out my soul in addition to the department I work being physically demanding. I figure I have nothing to lose trying to do something different like a call center, and I fully understand its not all sunshine and rainbows but I see mixed experiences with Navy Federal.

Anyone worked there or currently working there know what its like? Is there a good chance of converting from Temp to Full employee in the call center? I hear the benefits are good if you do but Walmart does have pretty good benefits too, its just that I really cant take it with my team being understaffed and overworked in a physically demanding job, it kills both my physical and mental health and I feel like sitting at a desk all day taking calls is preferable to what I do now. It also helps that it pays more.

Single guy, where should I hang out? Not into bars.

I've spent a little time in Winchester before. I'm back now and possibly moving here after getting an amazing job offer.

However as a single guy who wants to change his status, I don't know where to hang out. Recommendations? I don't drink, and I dislike the bar scene.

I have a social job and when I'm not working I'm mostly a homebody... Besides that I go to the gym, play fetch with my German Shepherd, take classes, work on my cars, build home theater equipment, and so on. Mostly things that aren't very social, and that's a problem.

Thus I'm open to ideas outside of my interests, but again I'd really like to avoid the late-night bar scene.

Need some bros, mid 30s

I see posts on here all the time about people wanting to make friends, but most of them are from single people in their 20's. I'm mid 30's, married with 1 child. Both me and my wife are new to the East Coast entirely. I like golf, board games, card games, cigars, poker, beers around a fire. Just need some bros (no gender preference) to hang out with occasionally.

Hi ! I’ve recently started transitioning and I need a bit of a trim to get my bangs into check and whatnot and I was wondering if yall knew any specifically trans friendly barbers? I don’t want some asshole cutting my hair too short because they don’t like me dressing like a queer or whatnot (hyperbole, you get what I mean). Thank you !

VH Emergency Departments' physicians will be replaced by private equity October 1

The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) is a national professional association representing over 8,000 specialists in emergency medicine (EM). We are concerned that the physicians of Emergency Medicine of Blue Ridge have been informed that, as of October 1, they will need to be employed by SCP Health in order to continue to care for patients in the emergency departments of Valley Health system. The AAEM endorses the notion that local physician ownership of their practice is the best arrangement for physicians, the medical staff, the hospital, and, most importantly, for the patients. SCP Health is owned by the private equity firm Onex. Recycling woes

Does anyone else have a problem with the recycling guys not picking up clearly recyclable stuff that's in the blue bin? I double checked the website and, with the exception of some styrofoam I must have missed that was inside one of the boxes, everything else was what they were supposed to pick up. Paperboard, aluminum cans, everything that's supposed to be there was in there but they ignored it. This has happened before and it's a bit irritating.

When we first moved in I followed the instructions regarding cardboard (stacking it in on itself and putting it neatly on the curb but outside the bin because that's what the picture showed) and it was ignored. Plastic jugs were rinsed and put in the bin? Ignored. Cans? Ignored.

I just don't get what they all want?

Hi from a local pet sitter! 🧡

Hi everyone!

I’m Hannah, and I recently set up this account for Animal Auntie Pet Care (AAPC). I mostly just wanted to introduce myself and be part of the community rather than jump in with anything promotional.

I’m local to the Winchester area and provide in-home pet sitting and drop-in visits for cats and dogs. I typically travel throughout Winchester, Clearbrook, Stephens City, Middletown, and surrounding areas.

I focus on in-home care so pets can stay in their normal environment and routine while their people are away. This tends to work especially well for cats, senior pets, and more anxious animals.

A little about me:

• Star Sitter on Rover

• Pet First Aid & CPR certified

• Photo updates during every visit

• Calm, routine-based care

I also have experience with basic dog training and behavior reinforcement, so I can help support things like leash manners or structure during visits if needed.

I’m not really here to advertise—I just know how hard it can be to find someone you trust with your pets, especially in your home, and I’m always happy to answer questions if anyone ever has them 🙂

Status of Apple Pie Ridge Fiber Project

My parents live off Apple Pie Ridge and they were told fiber would be installed to their house a couple of weeks ago but they haven't seen any more directional boring crews or any additional work in a while. Does anyone know whats going on and is the project still going through?

Thanks

Good Sports Bar

Hey yall, I'm looking for a simple sports bar with decent beer and some TVs and cell service in Winchester. I like Backseat but there's absolutely no cell service. Any ideas? Preferably not on the walking mall.

Thanks
