What would a tool have to show you before you'd let it manage your money?

Currently thinking of trying out a robo advisor.. but most people I know will happily let an app do their taxes but won't let one anywhere near their portfolio. Money at stake but a completely different reaction.

If you've used a robo or an automated allocation, what made you trust it enough to actually fund it? And if you'd never do it, what's the real dealbreaker?

What got you to start investing?

Everyone starts investing for a different reason.

For some it's building wealth, for others it's financial freedom, retirement, fear of inflation, or just curiosity.

What was the event or realization that finally got you started?

Looking back, do you wish you'd started earlier?

What's a piece of investing content you'd hand a beginner today?

Everyone recommends the same three books. Nothing wrong with them, they work. But I'm curious what you've actually consumed in the last 12-24 months that changed how you think or invest.

Podcast episode, single blog post, YouTube, newsletter, whatever.

Has anyone here actually managed to convert a skeptical parent/ partner or friend into investing?

So many of the people aroung me are 'stocks are gambling' people. I've tried the compounding math, the retirement gap chart. Nothing landed.

Curious if anyone has actually made this work with someone in their life. Book, single conversation, a specific chart, something you didn't expect? Or is the honest answer that people mostly don't change and you have to let them?

What's the first money thing that made you feel even a little less stressed, even before your situation actually improved?

Not a big win, just the first small thing that took some of the weight off mentally. For me it was finally writing down exactly what i owned, what came in, and what I can possibly start saving.
What was it for you? A small buffer, knowing your fixed costs, one bill finally sorted, a routine? Curious what actually changed the feeling, not just the bank balance.

For those of you who've lived in more than one country, did moving change how you think about investing?

I keep noticing how much of what people believe about money seems tied to where they grew up. Saving everything, property being the only 'real' investment, stocks feeling like gambling. For those who've lived in more than one country, did any of that shift when you moved, or did it stick? Curious which beliefs travelled with you.

What was the actual reason you picked your first ETF?

Mine was basically that a friend mentioned one by name, and buying the thing someone i trusted already owned felt less scary than comparing twenty of them. Curious how it went for you?

What's a money belief from your upbringing that you've had to unlearn?

I grew up with the idea that money in a savings account was safe and anything else was reckless.. took me a while to even notice it was a belief, not a fact.

Curious what yours was? Something a parent lived by, a rule that just hung in the air at home, anything you've had to consciously undo?

What was the first source about investing that didn't feel like someone trying to sell you something?

Thinking about this because I'm trying to recommend something to a friend who's just starting... most of what i read and heard felt like it had a hook somewhere. Was there a book, person, platform, video, anything really, that felt clean? And what made it feel that way?

When did you decide you knew enough to start investing? Or did you just start anyway?

A friend of mine started with zero research, threw 100 a month into one fund, and is doing fine. Another friend has been studying for two years and still hasn't opened an account.

Curious how this went for people here. Was there a clear moment?

Banken verkaufen was, YouTube will Klicks, Foren sind oft hit or miss.

Why do people still avoid learning about investing?

Guys, I’ve genuinely been wondering this lately: Why do so many people still not try to educate themselves more about investing?

There are so many tools available now, low-cost ETFs, YouTube, Reddit, AI, podcasts, finance apps etc. and yet I still know so many people who keep huge amounts of cash sitting in accounts paying basically 0% interest because they don’t know what to do.

Is it mainly fear? Lack of interest? Feeling overwhelmed? Curious what people think and what could be done about it.
