I am 9 months unemployed in Houston and have no traction in this city. I have 10k that I can use to relocate for a few months to Dallas from July-September, by then I would have been unemployed for 1 year. Do I move there to start from scratch or stay in Houston, where my most recent work has been contracts and I almost have a year of unemployment.
For people that lived in both cities. I’m not talking about waitressing. I’m talking office jobs. I know the white collar job market is bad but I’m trying to move out of Houston. I did visit Dallas around JanFeb but the jobs were barely posted in late Feb and so that early year rush wasn’t there.
I’ve seen type 2 people have success with it but I don’t see a lot of posts with type 1. What has been your experience? How long did you try it for? If you found success, when did you notice it?
I live in the terrible city of Houston where wages are low. I can look into Glassdoor for past wages and other similar companies, but sometimes the information is just not there especially for uncommon titles. I think that sometimes there are jobs that can pay better even in this crap city. I know that I have lowballed myself in the past because I expect low wages and there are times I shot too high. I have good experience but I’m not mid level, I’m still entry level and the salaries are broad. So, would putting ‘open’ result in an elimination?
