Legend 70s Artist-W Worth It?

Considering a Viscount Legend 70s Artist W (Mk I) with all mods except the clav (MIDI module instead), plus stand and pedals, for $3k.

I’m mainly looking for piano/EPs and general stage keyboard stuff, with the virtual analog synth being a bonus here. There aren’t many reviews out there, so I’d love to hear from anyone who has played or owned one.

How do the piano/EP sounds, keybed, synth capabilities, and overall quality compare to something like an RD-2000 or other competitors? At $3k, I could go with an RD-2000 and have a more proven stage piano, so I’m wondering if the Legend 70s is worth it.
Thanks!

Viscount Legend Solo

Considering picking one of these up, however, I cannot find any reviews anywhere. Anyone here had experience with the Legend Solo? What’re your thoughts ? Thanks!

DIY Leslie 222 Pre Amp Circuit Verification

So instead of spending $300+ on a pre amp from Leslie, or other manufactures, I’m building a small DIY analog preamp to connect a Yamaha YC88 to a vintage Leslie 222. The idea is to use an NE5532 with a 12V single-supply/virtual-ground setup and transformer-balanced output to the Leslie’s 6-pin audio interface.

I used AI to generate the attached wiring diagram as a starting point, but I’d really like someone knowledgeable to verify it before I connect anything.

Does this circuit look correct? Anything obviously wrong, missing, or potentially dangerous to the YC88 or Leslie? Also, what should I educate myself on before diving deep into this?

Any feedback on the NE5532 circuit, virtual ground, transformer output, or 222 pinout would be greatly appreciated!

DIY Leslie

I’m planning to build a DIY Leslie and would love some advice on the parts.

I’m thinking:

10–15” woofer (lots of used guitar speakers in my area for low $, would these work?)
Rotating HF horn/driver
Potentially a Class D amp
Crossover
DIY enclosure (I can 3D print a lot of the mechanical parts)
Motors controlled with a microcontroller for slow/fast speeds

I’m fine figuring out the motors/control side myself. I’m mainly looking for recommendations on the speakers, HF driver/horn, amps, crossover, and power supply.

I’m shooting for around $400 total and want something that sounds legit enough.

There doesn’t seem to be a ton of detailed information on DIY Leslies out there, so if anyone has parts recommendations, schematics, or good resources I can read through, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Looking for an 88-key keyboard (beginner)

I’m looking for some advice on choosing my first serious 88-key keyboard.

I’m a beginner jazz pianist, but I have a lot of experience playing saxophone, so I already have a strong musical background and understanding of theory/improvisation. I have been playing on an upright Yamaha for 6 months, however, I don’t have access to it anymore. Now, I am playing on a shitty Casio 88 weighted keyboard that sounds… very subpar.

My priorities, roughly in order:

Jazz piano — good acoustic piano sounds and, most importantly, a key action that feels good for developing my playing

Electric pianos — Rhodes/Wurly sounds are a big part of what I want to explore

Organ — I really want to learn Hammond-style playing, so real physical drawbars and hands-on organ controls are a major plus

Synths — I want to eventually get into synthesis, pads, leads, etc., but this is less important than the first three

I don’t currently gig, so portability and a lot of performance-oriented features aren’t particularly important. I’m mostly looking for something that is fun to play, sounds great, and gives me room to explore different types of keys.

The boards that are currently on my radar are:

Roland RD-2000
Yamaha YC88
Kurzweil PC4
Roland V-Stage 88
Yamaha wS90 XS
Korg SV-1 88
Roland RD-800 / RD-300NX

My budget is roughly $1,000–$2,000, although I’m willing to be flexible and spend more if there’s a significant jump in quality or capability. I’m also open to the idea of having multiple boards if that makes more sense than trying to find one keyboard that does everything well.

Would love to hear what you guys would recommend, including options I haven’t listed.

I am planning on sewing some frame bags for my new straggler and am contemplating my color scheme. I’ve thought about black bags with ~shaggy carpet orange accents or just white accents. I really want to use brown but I think it will clash with the off-orange too much. Any suggestions or thoughts ?
