I've been looking into estate planning specifically around digital assets and crypto, and honestly, most existing options feel pretty broken.

Right now, it seems like you only have three bad choices:

1. Hand over raw seed phrases/private keys to a lawyer or family member ahead of time (huge security risk).
2. Rely on traditional probate courts and legal wills (takes 6+ months, completely useless for highly liquid or volatile positions).
3. Hope your heirs figure out hardware wallets on their own if something unexpected happens to you (usually ends in total asset loss).

Social recovery works fine for everyday users, but it doesn't really scale for larger, institutional or high-net-worth setups.

For those holding significant non-custodial assets: what’s your current setup for liveness risk or unexpected contingency? Are you using dead-man switches, multisigs with trusted third parties, or just traditional legal trusts?

I’m currently researching non-custodial automation around this to see where the biggest pain points are, so any raw feedback on how you've set this up (or why you haven't) would be super helpful.

I’m currently architecting a non-custodial solution that monitors for inactivity to prevent assets from sitting in "legal limbo" during an emergency. The core logic is to trigger automated, pre-configured orders (e.g., liquidating to cash) within a user's brokerage account via API if the user doesn't hit a "heartbeat" check.

I'm hitting a wall regarding the security perception of brokerage APIs.

My main dilemma: Even with "Trade-only/Read-only" API scopes, users are incredibly hesitant to connect their accounts.

For those of you building in the space:

1. Have you found that abstracting the API connection via middleware (like Plaid/SnapTrade) significantly improves user conversion compared to direct integration?
2. What are the biggest technical red flags you’ve seen in "automated legacy" products that cause security teams or users to walk away?
3. How are you handling the regulatory nuance between "automated order execution" and "unauthorized asset transfer" in the eyes of regulators?
