Hey everyone,
If you are playing through El Este and about to start or finish the "Harpoon" operation (the assault on Admiral Benítez's fortress), READ THIS IMMEDIATELY.
There is a massive, game-breaking progression bug that the community talks about constantly, but I finally figured out the exact trigger that corrupts your save file right at the end.
The Problem:
If you finish the mission, you will automatically fast-travel and spawn back inside Yelena's underground bunker. If you leave the bunker immediately to go explore, clear air defenses, or do a treasure hunt, your world progress will freeze permanently. You will no longer be able to accept any main faction missions or progress the story at all. Your save file is essentially dead.
The Fix / Prevention:
To keep your save safe, you must follow this exact rule the second the mission ends:
As soon as you spawn in, look for Yelena inside the bunker. Stand there, let all the dialogue play out, and manually interact with her to clear the quest completion script. Only after the game officially saves and updates your journal with the next mission objective is it safe to leave.
If you leave early, the game engine drops the script handshake, and since it's an autosave-only game, you are locked out of the rest of the campaign.
Hope this saves some of you from having to restart a 30+ hour playthrough like I had to! Viva Libertad!
