Any content made "pre-controversy" by someone problematic should be fair game.

I just feel like we get caught up in the wrong stuff nowadays and everybody just be playing morality olympics. "Oh you listen to (insert x song by a problematic artist) dont you know what they said recently?" Yes bro but this song was made WAAAAAY before they said that crazy stuff man. I understand the side eyes if you support newer stuff made by them "post-controversy" you know? Kanye West for example I only listen to a few albums mostly, sometimes ill sprinkle in some of The Life of Pablo but other than that its mostly, Late Registration, College Dropout, and Graduation. We all know Kanye has since said and done some things that aren't okay but why should I be criticized for bumping older stuff before he said or did anything crazy?

This same sentiment could go for youtubers, actors, or literally anybody who F'd up and is facing backlash for it, if you still like their older stuff before the F up you shouldn't be scrutinized for consuming the older stuff you enjoyed. You're just punishing yourself for something THEY did.

Go listen to that old album, go watch that old YouTuber, go watch that classic movie. You know you want to, and you should.

TIFU by blocking a kids basketball shot at dicks sporting goods.

Dude what was i thinking???? So I (25M) went to the mall to pick up some sneakers at Dicks sporting goods and since I didn't have anything else to do that day I look around and browse before heading off to the food court or something. I look at the driveway basketball hoops, i don't need one as I already have one but I am looking for a ball to take to the park or the gym. I see this kid(maybe 11M) shooting around and just testing out the hoop with some of the balls they allow you to shoot with. For some reason it was just so tempting to run over and block one of his attempts, but obviously i would never do that right? Yeah I thought so too until next thing I know I'm sprinting towards him while he's gearing up to shoot and I jump in front of him and swat away his shot, shouting "BLOCKED BY JAMES" my name isn't even James who the hell was I feeling like?? The kid looked terrified, and just froze in place. I quickly apologized and told him I have no idea why the hell I just did that, poor kid probably thought I was insane. I ended up seeing him at a different sneaker store and his dad and I had a talk, he wasn't mad or anything, in fact we all seemed able to laugh about it but I still felt awful.

TL;DR: I wanted to relive the basketball glory days at the expense of some kid just shooting the rock.

Caught my wife watching my favorite childhood cartoon.

Thought id share something wholesome to boost any bad day someone might be having.

To start, anyone who knows me knows im a HUGE spider-man fan, my earliest introduction to spider-man was my mom taking me as an infant to the 2002 Sam Raimi spider-man movie, and contrary to babies in theatres I was quiet and glued to the screen according to her.

Last year, my wife (23F) while she had free time was in our living room watching The Spectacular Spider-Man on disney+ (still hate that they removed it lol) and she was on the last episode of the second season. I come home from work and I hear the theme song echo through the house and suddenly I'm 10 years old again, sitting on the floor eyes glued to the screen with nothing but stale chips and Hawaiian punch without a care in the world. I tell her "hey, I loved that show when I was a kid. A shame it only had two seasons." Her face dropped, realizing that she was on the last episode of the second season she goes "Noooooo, theres no way its over, I didn't even realize there was only two seasons!!!" I laugh because she said what every other Spectacular SM fan felt when we got hit with the news lol. She wraps up the show, and we mutually complain about the cancelation. I am now returning the favor by watching one of her favorite shows Gossip Girl, and I'm enjoying it so far and I feel like it was so sweet of her to go back to my childhood just to further understand my interests. I love this woman and I will continue to love her forever.

I don't bother checking if an item is really on sale or not.

I'm a cart attendant who's also trained on checklanes. People often bring up things that are supposed to be on sale but they ring up for the normal price. I never ask for verification i just ring it up for the price they say. I always just chalk it up to a misplaced item or an expired deal not being removed, ehh until a leader clocks me on it I will probably just keep trusting the guest to be honest with me lol. Half the changes aren't even crazy its just like "Oh this was 25 dollars not 30, or this was 230 not 240"

AITAH for disclosing the contents of a video game before selling it to a kid?

First time posting because I never was encountered with a dilemma worth posting. I(25M) work at retail store (think Target or Walmart). I was filling in for the tech/electronics team member while he went on break as I pretty much just flex around the store as needed.

A mother and her son walk up trying to check out Persona 3 Reload. I comment on how this is one of my favorite games as I have almost 300 hours on it, y'know just replaying it on New Game+ on higher difficulties and whatnot.

Games that have an M rating require and ID to purchase, and can be bought for kids under 17 if their accompanied by a parent. So I ask for her ID and she asks "Why do I need the ID for a video game?" She sounded genuinely concerned and not like irritated or anything so I point out that the game is Rated M for Mature and it has themes of Suicide, Partial Nudity, Blood, and other mature themes.

Now ive been in this position before, back in 2014 I was at gamestop trying to purchase Bayonetta 2 on the WII U and the employee let my mom know that its rated M for Mature for similar reasons so I know as a kid it can be awkward listening to the employee rattle off all the reasons not to buy the game lol.

After explaing the content warnings that warrant the ESRB rating she looks at her son and tells him "I think you should pick out another game" and he starts to sulk and reluctantly goes to pick out another game.

He comes back with astro bot for the PS5 which is way more tame by comparison, and she thanks me for the explanation as she doesn't want him exposed to certain things at certain ages. Fair, parents have that right to moderate what their kids are exposed to.

I share this story with some co workers because I think its funny because of how relatable it is to be a kid wanting to play a game thats M rated and have to go through mom to get it, however some of the reactions were mixed. Some said I was just upholding the policy by answering guest questions, while others said I was the AH and should've been the "cool employee" and looked the other way. Its not like I doubled down on the details of the game, I just reiterated what the ESRB rating said in addition to my own experience with the game.

All it takes is one guest to say "my son was sold this game and it was highly inappropriate" leaders to check who was working and trace it back to me, and I'm just trying to have a chill employment by playing by the rules and doing what im taught to do.

So AITAH for disclosing the contents of a video game before selling it to a kid?

De-Escalation training

They forgot to include that some guests don't seek peace and only crave violence and chaos. Other than that, 10/10 module!

Some kids are sweet

Lovely kid asked if we had ramyun because his little sister loves KPop Demon Hunters. Luckily for him we still had some of the KPDH branded ramyun so I pointed him to that he was happy, she was happy, parents happy, good times. Also got a shout out, I'm a CA so I hardly have guest interactions so when I do, I try to put my best foot forward!
