Overheard at pride, PG the third gayest city in BC, looking for a source on the stat.

So at the pride parade I overheard someone mention that PG is the third gayest city in BC by percentage of population. It struck me as odd at first but I can kind of rationalize it with the idea that we are sort of a refuge for LGBTQ people in the north, but I can’t find a source on the statistic. Does anyone know how this was measured? Is it just a self-report poll? Anyone know the source?

What drive mode for forest service roads? 24 BSBB

So I will be driving a little over 800 km of continuous forest service roads next week in north western BC and southern Yukon, what drive mode do people use for rougher dirt roads, ours have lots of pot holes and frost heaves.

I’ll also be driving about 3500 km of highway and tar/chip roadway so we’ll see how the fuel economy is in eco mode for that, I’ll be carrying extra fuel.

Best Poutine in the territory?

Alright, French Canadian stuck living in the top half of BC; I’ll be in Whitehorse next week and around the southern half of the territory a bit. What’s the best poutine option? I miss good poutine and I’m looking for a good classic poutine and maybe a galvaude if anyone in the southern portion of the Yukon makes one.

You guys have a lot more Francophones than we do, please don’t let me down. Also, does anyone know if any of the grocery stores sell cretons? I can’t get them here unless I make my own and they don’t taste right when I do.

If Quebec pulls out of Alto should we look to build passenger in Alberta and BC instead?

So with the recent news that a PQ government would block the Quebec portion of the Alto High Speed Rail project should we the people demand that alternative alignments in other parts of the country be considered in lieu of a Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal line?

Should we use the funding and knowledge already set up to build high speed rail in other places, or use it to improve intercity rail in more places?

Should we still build the Toronto-Ottawa portion, should we do that AND build a Calgary-Edmonton route? What about building out suburban and intercity rail in western Canada where we really need it.

If we drop the Ottawa to Montreal high speed route we could pay for modern medium speed rail lines connecting Banff to Calgary, then Red Deer, and on to Edmonton. As well as build out suburban rail in Calgary and Edmonton AND still have enough left over to rebuild island rail on Vancouver while reviving passenger service on BC Rail using a model based on the new Ontario Northland service. If we work together we could even increase service coordinate schedules from PG to Edmonton via Jasper and create a rail loop through our provinces to better move people.
