I have this mirror which had solid white paint all over it. We did the paint remover and are currently working on sanding it. The little white carvings don’t appear to be real wood and they’re extremely intricate and break off if we apply too much pressure.

We are looking to stain and then seal it. It’s our first DIY project. Would I be able to stain this as is with oil based? Any advice on where to go from here ?
