Succes story and anxiety

There were many times I thought I won’t ever write this post but here I am, holding my almost 3 weeks old on my chest. I’m soaking up every little minute with this perfect little soul.
Nevertheless, I wanted to ask your advice on a couple things

  1. I sometimes hold this baby and think of the one I didn’t get to hold and it makes me feel guilty somehow. Like I’m replacing something. And I never got to tell him how much I loved him and how much I would have loved to hold him just like this. I will never know how he would have looked liked or see how he grows up.

  2. Anxiety never settled for me. First it was miscarriage, then I got into a big anxiety spiral and almost terminated this pregnancy because I was certain something will be wrong with this baby too and didn’t want to go through that again. Thank god I chose to go through with the pregnancy, crazy hormones and trauma. After that it was the anatomy scan, then it was the third trimester anatomy scan and I was certain they’ll find something. Then the birth part when I was sure I’ll have some sort of cord accident and never hold my breathing baby. Now it’s SIDS anxiety and I literally cannot find peace.

Will I ever be able to not feel like I’m on the verge of losing this baby too? How do you deal with these feelings?
Thank you!

Need some encouragement

Hi! I have a 11 days old baby who I prayed for and love very much. Nevertheless, I’m so completely lost and exhausted, I know the fourth trimester is rough but I’m completely taken by surprise. My baby doesn’t latch great, I’ve seen a lactation consultant and it’s been helpful but it still takes an awful lot of time for him to get enough through breastfeeding. He falls asleep fast when eating and I have to continuously rub him and by the time he’s done with one breast (or I consider him to be done) he’s too asleep for the other one. My milk supply isn’t great either because I do need more hours of sleep through the night and I didn’t use to pump or nurse every 3 hours. I started doing pumping every 3 hours at night and it’s so completely overwhelming. I feel like I’ve lost all sense of reality, I need to go to sleep earlier so my husband can give him a bottle so I can pump and go back to sleep and I just want to be able to completely skip one pumping or nursing session at night but I’ve been told that nights are the most important thing for increasing supply. When does it get easier?! How did you do it and what advice do you have for me?
Thank you!

Signs of labor

Hi! I’m 38w today and I went in for a checkup. My cervix is 3.1cm, closed and baby hasn’t dropped yet (even though I feel a lot of pelvic pressure 😅). I m a ftm so I am not used to any of this and just wondering if anyone had a long closed cervix and high baby and still went into labor before 40w. Or how fast it happened. Just trying to see what to expect. Thank youuuu!

FTM looking for pump advice

Hi! I’ll be giving birth at the end of July and I’m starting to look into pump options. I’ll have a c section so my supply will probably come in later but I do want to give my baby as much as possible after that. What breast pump should I buy? I’m so lost because there are soooo many options. I somehow narrowed it down to spectra vs eufy. Is it possible to have eufy s1pro as a primary pump being so easy to get around with it? Or ideally I should buy a spectra?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Constant spikes 1hr after meals

Hi! I’ve been diagnosed 2 weeks ago at 26w, tomorrow I’ll be 28w. Just after being diagnosed everything seemed soooo simple. The last 4-5 days though have been incredibly frustrating. I started wearing a Dexcom one plus as well 5 days ago and I’m kind of comparing the numbers on it with the finger prick. What I can tell:
- Saturday I had a 143 spike at 1hr after dinner after a seemingly normal meal with toast, cream cheese and tomatoes and cucumber. Low spike number so not very concerned
-Sunday I had a 143 spike at 1hr after breakfast after eating a breakfast that hasn’t spiked me at all before!! The reading was on Dexcom so still not that concerned as it sometimes gives higher values BUT I also had a second spike of 160 1 hr after lunch when I ate some ramen (maybe it could be explained by not choosing whole grain ramen noodles but still concerned me)
-Monday I had a 145 spike at 1hr after lunch (some wholegrain tortilla with boiled egg tomatoes and cream cheese)
- today I had a 157 spike after a very non spiky breakfast but it was also on Dexcom so not entirely sure if very accurate but I also had a dinner spike of 156 at 1hr on the finger prick and I also walked and moved after eating

Fasting numbers were all ok (I didn’t have time today to test in the morning but my Dexcom said 96 wich could be the first high fasting value.
Also the values go down really well. I’ve had no 2hr spikes (yet)

I have multiple concerns and I’d be so thankful for every insight you have

  1. Is this ok considering I’m still learning what and how to eat or is it hurting the baby already?? I read so much about this and every article onides the risk of stillbirth
  2. What is considered controlled diabetes?!

Thank you for reading. Hopefully I covered everything I wanted and please help me😭
