I am an armed security officer, and I have a question for LEO's...

I do patrol work on Sunday nights in the Houston area. Some nights, I come across open doors at multiple sites. I've made entry with the Sheriff's Office at several of those, and we've all had our duty weapons out during said building sweeps. HPD meanwhile makes me stand outside as an observer.

What are your department's policies on allowing armed security to search and/or back you up on a call like that?
