International SLPs, what visa are you on?

I am an international student here, graduating in December.

What are our work visa options? I know we have 1 year of OPT, but what happens after that?

I know that H1B also has a lottery so its not guaranteed. Any comment is appreciated! thanks :)

Stuttering Research: Participants Needed

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a little help recruiting participants for my doctoral dissertation at Wayne State University.

My study explores how adults who stutter cope with challenging communication situations and how those coping strategies relate to overall well-being.

If you know someone who stutters, I would be so grateful if you could share this study with them. Participation is completely remote, and participants will be compnsated for their time.

Please feel free to share the screening link by email, on social media, or in any relevant community or professional groups. Every share helps, and I truly appreciate your support!

Thank you so much, and here is the link:

Did you have shortness of breath post closure?

I'm 3.5 months post closure (OHS) and have shortness of breath at rest and during activity. I did check with my doctor once, he did chest xray and echo which were mostly normal. I was wondering what's other people's experience about this.

non-degree dysphagia course

Hi! I’m an international SLP and currently a PhD candidate in the U.S. I’m considering pursuing my CCCs, which means I’d need to complete a few courses I didn’t originally take.

One of them is Dysphagia. My current university offers it in spring/summer, but only 2 credits are covered and the remaining 1 credit would cost over $2,000, which feels like a lot for a single credit.

I was wondering: if I don’t take it now (since I’m honestly more interested in teaching and research than clinical practice), would it still be possible to take it later through a non-degree option?

Does anyone know of online programs where you can take just one or two courses? And if so, what’s the typical cost range for a 3-credit course? Thank you so much!!!! :_)
