I'm going for it.

I made my decision today.

I'm running for state office next time around here in Idaho...

...and I'm running as a Democrat.

Yeah, I'm announcing my shot early but I'll need that time to build the machine it will take to make even a dent in the state I love.

And if the Democrats, Idaho or National, don't want to help, then to hell with them, I'll do it myself.

The hypocrisy of the Idaho GOP

Last night, I had a state representative (who won his primary) tell me to my face TWICE that he believes the state legislature should be able to strike down voter referendum results because he, and I quote, worries "about the stupidity of the voter."

I may have to run against this cat out of spite as a loud and proud lefty.

Side note: he's an admitted transplant. I'm a 4th generation Idahoan with FIVE generations of my family in the same rural Idaho cemetery.

Bobby's Last Sphere Show

Today is the anniversary of the last Sphere show Bobby played. I was there. The show was absolutely incredible. I remember thinking it felt like Bobby was singing goodbye to us. It turns out is was. Fare the well, Uncle Bobby and thank you so much for so much.

I am a 52-year-old cover band lead singer. We do parties, corporate events, weddings etc. As a result our set list has everything from Earth Angel to Tennessee Whiskey to Super Freak. When I'm not singing lead I'm singing harmony behind our guitar player and our keyboard player on the few songs that they sing.

My voice is going through somewhat of a renaissance. I haven't been a lead singer since the early '90s. My voice is currently easily the best it's ever been. My range is now through the roof and my power is kind of insane as well.

Now my questions.

#1 I will take any advice I can get on how to continue to care for my voice. I've been with the band since Halloween and my voice has really gotten into great shape like a runner gets stronger in the first six months. It doesn't get tired like it did in the first couple months. I still make sure that I hydrate throughout the show and I have taken to using the Ludens pectin lozenges and they seem to be helping as well. The lozenges may very well be a placebo effect like a security blanket but I'm still using them. What other advice can you give me? I'll take any tips you guys have.

#2 (and less important) have any of you experienced the later years boost in vocal ability? Even when I wasn't the lead singer of a band I was playing guitar and always found myself singing harmonies and backups in the studio and on stage. Maybe that kept me in at least marginal enough shape that I could jump up to full-time lead singer status physically. I'd love to hear anybody else's input on that and if you have experienced it what your circumstance was leading to it.

Thanks much everybody!
