Library Meeting 8/11 censorship effort

Please attend library meeting @ 12:30 pm @ May Memorial, Aug. 11, in the Large meeting room to voice your support for libraries. Our valuable library resources and qualified staff members are under attack from conservative members of the Library Committee appointed by County Commission. These members want to censor books they deem offensive.
Libraries books and resources are for ALL members of the community. Libraries do not force people to check out books they think are offensive.
If you’re not able to attend write or call your commission member and let him/her know library censorship takes away our freedom to choose what we want to read.

Landline replacement

Mother (96) in assisted living uses landline phone and service is💩. The service goes down frequently and trying to get repair request is an all day process. ATT doesn’t want to support it. Why a landline? Because my mother has no tech skills. I gave her a cell phone several yrs ago and she couldn’t manage it. I set her up with an internet phone service at her home but her AL facility only has Internet available in the lobby. It’s an old bldg and setting up an internet service for her is not in the budget. She has macular and is almost blind. I’ve asked the facility manager for alternatives but he doesn’t seem to have a clue. Any suggestions on landline alternative?

Chuck Edwards working to keep us safe

Just received BS in Chuck’s June 22nd newsletter. I sent him a nice message to remind him how many criminals have been pardoned by the President. Also where is accountability for the president’s crimes? Let’s punish the states instead.

Accountability in Cashless Bail Policies”

“Dangerous criminals should not be released back onto our streets without accountability, and the public deserves to know where these policies are in place. The tragic and senseless murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte was a devastating reminder of what can happen when repeat offenders are allowed back into our communities.

That's why I backed the Cashless Bail Reporting Act, legislation that requires the Attorney General to publish a list of state and local governments that allow the release of dangerous criminals without bail. Transparency is the first step toward accountability, and NC-11 deserves to know when our communities are at risk.”
