Laura in X-Men United #3: The right sentiment, the wrong voice

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this issue. There's a lot to like here. For one thing, she's acrobatic, flying over the heads of everyone else to engage the enemy, which is a MUCH APPRECIATED detail; her fighting style is and always should be different from Logan's.

But she also gets to share her trauma about what happened to Sarah Kinney, and how Laura's lived with the guilt, but still used the chance Sarah gave her. It's a touching moment, and a pretty big moment for Laura. She actually gets to resolved the whole situation and be the star of the show, at least as far as the X-Team is concerned.

My only complaint is that the writers still don't have her voice right. She's still talking more like Logan than herself. Marvel's writing team really needs to reread Tom Taylor's work at least. Try to get a better feel for who Laura is and how she interacts with others.

Aside from that, pretty solid issue, and a good Laura issue.

So... bill HR5766 has been introduced by the Republicans. It is The President Donald J Trump Peace Prize Act. The first recipient? Trump himself. Ew.

Trump and MAGA have never forgiven the world for granting Obama the Nobel peace prize. Their racist, bigoted ravings I've seen and heard over the past fifteen years have only proven that America has*not*, in fact, overcome its racism. Obama's election has steadily brought to light all of America's bigotry and insanity, and the depths of white America's rage is stunning. I had no idea just how high the odds were stacked against Obama until I saw the MAGA/Tea Party reaction.

Whatever you might think of his performance as president, the mere fact of Obama's successful election in America *WAS* an incredible accomplishment for the cause of peace.
