I'm bit late to enlighten but here I am .

I'm a 2026 ( Electrical Engineering ) passout from a Tier-69 (yk) Gov. College. I appeared for NQT this year . Never had interest in core engineering, though yk how life works . Debarred from tech companies due to branch restrictions, never say for core placements.

Applied for NQT : 27th Feb

NQT assessment: 21st March ( 2nd shift )

Interview for digital: 16th April ( LUCKNOW )

OL recieved: 22nd April

Now waiting for the JL .

If someone could relate, that how frustrating it is to manage attendance and degree for a branch that is different from what you want to expertise in . Yet , it's God's grace we prevailed.

Talking about the interview:

It started with my introduction where I mentioned about my expertise in DATA SCIENCE and AI and some projects. Then they asked me about the project - it's architecture, datasets , complexities, metrics , algorithm ( why did I use XGBOOST why not linear or random forest ) , feature engineering and the problems i faced during the building of the project. They asked about under fitting and over fitting models . How cross validation works . How to manage data leakage if happens . What is naive baseline. I answered them everything.

They shifted to OOPS and some basic questions regarding SQL.

They then hinged to my Electrical Engineering knowledge,

What are the different types of Transformers , Auxiliary power supply , What is rectifier. Thanks to the ratta I did for my exams , the required knowledge stayed . They then asked about RAG, LLM , NEURAL NETWORK and it's layers , NLP, etc .

Everything was answered with a smile .

They asked if I had any questions, I asked them about the role and the task that a new joinee like me will have in TCS in the field of Data science and AI . They answered it thoroughly.

Then my interview was over, the pressure was overwhelming.

Outside the panel room , i sat for about 4 minutes and looked at the faces of other candidates who were yet to appear for the interview.

2-3 months of company focused Hardwork, and 3 years of ON- OFF toil , were paid off .

I would love to tell you guys , just the right amount of effort will make it happen ... Trust the universe.

Though I have a year gap between 12th and Btech first year.

What to do ??

Earlier I MISTAKENLY selected NO in ACADEMIC GAPS section of NQT APPLICATION FORM....

Recently received this onboarding survey .

To the people who have gaps between 12th and Btech, and had selected YES in the column of ACADEMIC GAPS in NQT application form , do you guys also have the column for gap certificate/ affidavit along with the above given options ?
