After so much research, I got the Dyson Gen5Absolute - and it works terribly on carpets and rugs

I don't understand how in all the reviews and articles I've read, this wasn't already mentioned by someone else.

Love how it works on our hard floors, but as soon as I put the carpet attachment on and put in on a rug it runs for a few seconds and then the head just stops. Put it on the "-" setting and on eco mode too, but still, stops the motor head. I read somewhere (after running into the problem) that you have to use the vacuum only in reverse on carpets and rugs and that's absolutely insane for how expensive this thing is.

Anybody else have a similar experience? Am I just going to have to stick to upright plug-in vacuums for our rugs?

Idk why, but for some reason I was charged twice for my silver subscription both in March and in April. I don't usually check these charges because I always have Google Play credits loaded and it doesn't come directly out of my bank account.
