Update on the front fairing project

Tried bending acrylic today. Not easy, but also not impossible, which is good news for my front fairing project. 3D printed the base shape that i could then bend the acrylic around. It did not turn out symmetric in the bending though, as you can see by the pictures, but now I've at least got a little more feeling for how it works. Hopefully second try will be better!

Checked out a 170S the other day

So i went for a test drive in a 170S the other day. What a fun car. Had a look at the engine and noticed one part which appears to be pretty rusted up. Is this common and to be expected, or is it an issue? Only had a couple thousand kilometers on it.

Thanks in advance!

Printed knuckle guards

Pretty much done with my knuckle guards project.

Printed on a P1S in ABS, then sanded, high fill primer, sand again, plastic primer, sand, base color and finally 1K clear coat.

Its not perfect, the layers still show a bit. If you have any tips on getting an even cleaner surface before primer and base color, let me know!

Home baked knuckle guards

Pretty much done with my custom knuckle guards. Both the guard and bracket is 3D printed on a Bambu Lab P1S in ABS filament, then treated with high fill primer, sanded and painted. It mounts to the bar end and the OEM mirror holes.

Took me a couple of goes with the filler, and the result isnt perfect. The layers from the print still shows a bit, and i went through the clear coat and base color when sanding the clear coat on some places, but im pretty happy with the result still. I used spray cans and only 1K clear coat, so there's room for improvement there as well.

I might vinal wrap the front of them with the same yellow as the tank, but let me know what you think!

First prototype of a front fairing for my Bonneville. Had to print in three pieces due to size. With some new holes and modifying i got it to fit, but im unfortunately going to have to print it all again.

Plan is to add a acrylic windshield to it later. Last image is model in blender.

For finished version im going to fill, sand and either vinyl wrap or paint it.

Printed on P1S in ABS.

Let me know if you have any feedback for next print!
