ISO activities for young kids in Uptown and recommendations for meeting other SAHMs

Hi there! My husband and I moved to Uptown at the end of August. We have two daughters (our oldest is 2.5 and youngest is about to be 1)!

We love New Orleans so far and especially Uptown, but I have had trouble finding activities for both my kids. I take them to the zoo very often as we have a membership and it’s easy to walk with them, but am in search of other activities.

I would also welcome any advice on how to meet other moms in the area with young kids! Since we have two and their naps don’t align, I am at home a lot until the afternoon so we haven’t been able to do the mom walks or morning events.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Roadtrip with 9 month old & 2.5 year old?

Hi all! We are moving and have to drive our 9 month old and 2.5 year old around 7.5 hours to get to our new home. I have been going back and forth a lot about the best time of day to leave. For context, our girls usually wake up around 6:15/6:30 every morning. Our 9 month old naps from around 9:00-10:30 and 2:00-3:30 every day. Our 2.5 year old sometimes skips a nap but usually takes a nap from around 12:00-1:30 every day.

I thought maybe driving through the night would be a good option but our girls are very used to sleeping in sleep sacks in their cribs. I would appreciate any guidance or tips as we haven’t done any longer drives since having two kids!

Also, I do know that no one choice is going to be perfect given their ages and the length of the trip. We do also have the option to stop halfway or 3/4 of the way and spend the night somewhere if necessary!

Seeking recommendations in Uptown for pediatricians/mom groups

Hi there! My husband and I are moving to a house in the Black Pearl neighborhood starting in August. I was wondering if anyone could recommend pediatricians close to this area along with any mom groups or resources to meet other moms! Our girls are 2 years old and 8 months old, so any recommendations for younger kids are greatly appreciated!

Nap schedule - 8 month old and 25 month old

Hi there! We had 2under2 for several months and I was able to line up at least one nap of the day for a while. However, I am thinking our almost 8 month old now needs to be on 2 naps a day instead of doing 3 (the third nap is a 30 minute cat nap).

I am just curious for people with this same age gap—did you find it easier to keep trying to line up part of one nap or just to have one on one time with each child and have they nap at alternating times?

Essentially, our toddler is a low sleep needs child and she doesn’t take very long naps and we have to cap them anyway to make sure she will sleep at night. I’m a SAHM so any advice on how to make day to day life easier is greatly appreciated!
