Me preocupa muito.

My horror real life story

Hello everybody. This post will be my trauma with hernia surgery and how this "simples" surgery completelt destroyed my life. If you want to do the surgery and you are conviced, don't continue reading.

I am a 30M and in 2023 I started having pain in my left pubis. I tried a lot of things but a small hernia was found. I went for surgery. I had 4 months of chronic pain but it eventually went away.

2 years later the same pain returned much worse. My testicle started to be on fire, my pubis was almost broken and my abdomen in the region started to hurt a lot.

I went to several doctors. Tried nerve blocks, crioablation, radiofrequency. Norhing solved the deal. I started to feel a lot of pain in the level that I had to use opioids non stop.

I went to a doctor that removed the mesh and operated again. It got worse. Much worse. I can't describe how much pain I felt after this. This was december last year.

I end up having aurgery again for triple neurectomy. Got worse again. A nightmare. I can only say that there is not one day that I do not regret this fucking surgery.

Now I take methadone every day, live miserably, have destroywd my athletic career as a thriathlete as I cannot even walk properly.

If you dont have symptoms and it is not urgente, dont do the surgery! Please! I had the 2 best surgeons in my country, i paid more than $100k in fees and now my life is destroyed.

Be aware!

Edit: all surgeries were lap. The first one with mesh. This post is to share a very common story that is not told often. 100k surgeries are performed yearly and cases such as mine, even being 1-3%, amount to 1-3k people only on the us. If I knew that I would not perform any surgery

Winning a match on penalties should be considered less significant than winning during regular or extra time.

The 2022 World Cup final is a perfect example. Argentina and France played one of the greatest finals ever. After 120 minutes, the score was 3–3. Both teams had moments of dominance, both showed extraordinary quality, and both were separated by almost nothing.

Then came the penalty shootout.

Argentina became world champion, while France became the losing side. History draws a clear line between them: one team is celebrated forever, the other is remembered as the runner-up. But the difference between eternal glory and defeat came down to a few individual kicks after the actual match had already ended level.

That difference feels disproportionately large.

Argentina deserved the title because they won under the rules. But France did not suddenly become a clearly inferior team because of a penalty shootout. When two teams remain level after 120 minutes, the historical gap between “champion” and “loser” is much greater than the actual gap between their performances.

Winning on penalties is still winning. It simply should not carry exactly the same meaning as defeating an opponent during open play 2x0 or 4x1

Opinion

I am 29M. I used to be a triathlete in the best shape of my life. In october last year I started to feel some pain in my inguinal area. I had a inguinal hernia surgery a couple of years before and a mesh. The pain started to get worse and worse even stop training. I tried many meds and nerve blocks and did not work. My testicles started to burn. The pain subsided only with tramadol and not 100%.

I found a doctor who said I needed surgery. I was desperate and I accepted. I got much worse after that. He removed the mesh and put another one. I basically soent the next 4 months in growing agony. Started to take methadone. Doc said I was crazy. Nobody believed in me. Lost my job, almost lost my relationship, lost all my friends. Isolated myself 100%.

Went to a doctor specialized in pain in this area. He said the mesh was causing much of the pain. I went for another surgery removing the mesh and the nerves of the region. The first 4 or 5 days were better and then the pain started to come back and even worse and more spread. Now I have a terrible pain in my abdomen, pubis, groin, testicle, adductor and pelvlc floor. It is 24/7 and the methadone takes the edge off, but only a little.

I am now desperate. I dont know what else I can do. I made multiple exams, went to multiple specualists, made multiple procedures such as crio, radiofrequency, etc. There are days that I want to cut my testicles out. I cannot sit down, walk properly or even lay down sometimes without terrible pain. I cannot do pt or any exercise because it makes the pain worse.

Any simular experiences? Any opinions?

6 days in and having a hard time

Started last monday with 5mg. I am tired all the time, sleeping +10hr a day and much more anxious than before, with physical symptoms. I am in the first week of a transition to a keto diet so probably the effects are piling up.

I have already tried cymbalta and amytriptiline before without much help for the anxiety. Any tips or success stories to help me out?

Thanks

My personal experience with Cymbalta

I started using it for anxiety and chronic nerve pain (inguinal area). I have used for ~1.5 months and in the last 2 weeks was using 90mg/day. It did nothing to my anxiety or pain. But the main reason I stopped it was due to the terrible side effects I had. The two main ones were dystonia (muscle spasms) that kept me from sleeping because they happened 5-10 times an hour and a complete decrease in my libido.

The good thing though is that I was able to easily stop without any withdraw symptoms besides some increased anxiety. I started amytriptiline right after.

29m. I have been dealing with my pains since october last year. I had 2 surgeries and many procedures and everytime got worse. Actually most of my issues were a result of the first surgery ( I am sueing the dr, but this solves nothing). Before this I had no health problems or issues and actually was in the best shape of my life.

I am trying to keep positive because the last surgery was only 2 weeks ago but I am feeling much worse after it with no signs of improving. How do you deal with the idea of having debilitating pain forever? The last 7 months were hell. I lost my job, spent thousands of dollars, i am having a rough time with my SO and lost contact with all my friends. I can't sit or walk properly without strong pain. I basically just want to be alone but i am always miserable. I can't imagine living decades like this
