Thinking about becoming a salesman at 18 what can I expect

I honestly think I can do it, I can talk to people easy and I tend to know specs well (mainly GM), but I can learn other brands easy. I’m just curious on what the wage looks like for those starting out, and what to expect as a success rate?

Looking for advice for moving out

I turn 17 in a few days and while I have a family that loves me and says they will pay for my college and I can stay with them while I go to school, I have no desire for that. I’m living in central Arkansas and I wouldn’t mind staying in the area but i also wouldn’t mind getting away a few miles to where I won’t run into them. I really just need a small place to live either that a freshly 18 year old can put a reasonable down payment on and finance or rent a place for amount that is livable. Any areas that fit that description. (I’m currently in Conway AR)

The Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event is widely regarded as having resulted in the complete extinction of all non-avian dinosaurs approximately 66 million years ago. However, this paper advances the hypothesis that a small, ecologically flexible non-avian theropod lineage could theoretically have survived the extinction event and, under highly constrained conditions, may have persisted into the present within isolated refugia. While this idea represents a significant departure from the prevailing scientific consensus and must be considered a long-shot scenario, it can be examined through established principles of extinction selectivity, ecological resilience, fossil record bias, and modern detection limitations. This hypothesis is not supported by direct empirical evidence and is presented as a speculative extension of established extinction and ecological survival models. The extinction at the end of the Cretaceous was catastrophic, driven by the environmental consequences of a massive asteroid impact that caused atmospheric dust loading, prolonged darkness, collapse of photosynthesis, and widespread ecosystem failure (Alvarez et al., 1980; Schulte et al., 2010). Despite this, the extinction was not absolute across all life forms. Multiple lineages survived and later diversified, including mammals, crocodilians, and birds. A hypothetical non-avian theropod meeting these criteria—small in size, omnivorous, and capable of utilizing sheltered microhabitats—would align closely with the known survival profile of species that endured the extinction. While rare among known dinosaur groups, such traits are not outside the realm of possibility, particularly among small coelurosaurian theropods closely related to early avian lineages. Following the collapse of sunlight-driven ecosystems, life did not disappear entirely but reorganized around detritus-based food webs. These systems relied on fungi, bacteria, and invertebrates that fed on decaying organic matter. Organisms capable of exploiting these resources had a significantly higher probability of survival during the most severe phases of environmental collapse. A small omnivorous dinosaur capable of consuming insects, carrion, seeds, and other opportunistic food sources could theoretically have survived within this reduced but functional ecological framework. This dietary flexibility represents a critical component of the hypothesis, as ecological specialization would likely have been a fatal disadvantage under such conditions. Environmental refugia further strengthen the plausibility of this model. Wetlands, river systems, floodplains, and dense tropical forests are known to buffer extreme environmental changes by maintaining moisture, stabilizing temperature, and preserving limited food availability (Jablonski, 2005). These environments may have provided localized zones of survivability during and after the extinction event. A lineage confined to such refugia may have had an increased probability of persistence, particularly if it remained small, adaptable, and behaviorally cautious. The fossil record, while extensive, is incomplete and subject to significant preservation biases. Tropical environments, in particular, are poorly represented due to acidic soils, rapid decomposition, and intense biological activity. While this does not confirm survival, it weakens the assumption that absence of fossils definitively demonstrates extinction in all cases. Additional support for the concept of hidden persistence is provided by the phenomenon of Lazarus taxa, in which species thought to be extinct reappear after extended gaps in the fossil record. The coelacanth is a well-known example, having been believed extinct for millions of years before its rediscovery (Amemiya et al., 2013). Although no terrestrial vertebrate example matches the scale of the hypothesis presented here, the underlying principle demonstrates that long-term survival without continuous fossil evidence is possible under certain conditions. Over tens of millions of years, any surviving lineage would likely undergo substantial evolutionary change. It would be expected to lose many of its original specialized traits and evolve into a more generalized and adaptable form. Behavioral adaptations such as nocturnality, extreme caution, and reliance on dense, low-visibility environments would further enhance its ability to persist while avoiding predators and, eventually, human detection. The resulting organism would not resemble traditional depictions of dinosaurs, but instead appear as a morphologically ambiguous animal, potentially blending characteristics of reptiles and birds in ways that obscure its evolutionary origin. Modern detection methods, while advanced, are not exhaustive. Camera traps cover limited geographic areas, environmental DNA sampling is dependent on location, and vast regions of dense rainforest remain difficult to access. New vertebrate species continue to be discovered, particularly in remote and understudied environments (Thomsen & Willerslev, 2015). An organism that is extremely rare, nocturnal, and behaviorally adapted to avoid open spaces and human activity could, in principle, evade detection under specific ecological and behavioral constraints. Despite these supporting arguments, it is essential to emphasize that this hypothesis remains highly speculative. There is no confirmed fossil evidence of non-avian dinosaurs after the K–Pg boundary, and mammals rapidly diversified into ecological niches that would likely compete with any surviving lineage. Furthermore, modern biological surveys, including genetic sampling, have not produced evidence of an unknown dinosaurian lineage. These limitations represent significant challenges and reinforce the conclusion that, while theoretically possible, such survival would be extraordinarily unlikely. In conclusion, the persistence of a non-avian dinosaur lineage into the present can be framed as a speculative but scientifically structured hypothesis when grounded in known principles of extinction selectivity, ecological buffering, and fossil record limitations. However, it must be understood as a long-shot scenario—one that is not supported by direct empirical evidence but remains within the outer boundaries of biological possibility. This balance between plausibility and improbability defines the hypothesis: not impossible, but exceptionally unlikely without future empirical confirmation.
