Bought an HRX on marketplace that wouldn’t run. Me thinking it was a simple gummed up carb jumped right on the deal not thinking twice. Well I got home and turns out engine is shot…. Big ol hole on the side. Mower looked really good at first glance so didn’t bother to check thoroughly. Anyways, I do have a spare gcv160, could I mount that to the HRX?

Installed a new carb, new air filter, oil change.

Never had a 140cc mower so not sure if it sounds like it’s running good or not. AI saying it sounds like a potential air leak by how it sounds but I don’t trust it.

Picked up this mower fairly cheap thinking that I could fix it. It starts but it revved high, exhaust smelled weird and sounded completely different than my other gcv160. I’ve cleaned the carb, replaced air filter, replaced spark plug, changed out oil (looks like it was never changed). Troubleshooting the high revs I noticed the thermowax pin was sticking out and never went back in so I replaced the thermowax, made adjustments to the governor and replaced old fuel with new fuel. Was able to get it run at lower rpm, maybe too low so probably still need adjusting. How can I tell that nothing is wrong within the engine? I just wonder because of how different it sounds from my other gcv160 that runs like a champ.

Also when I removed the old thermowax, there was like black gunk in the thermowax housing, assuming the wax seeped out? Tried to clean it as much as I could but didn’t really have something to clean the inside well.

Just installed the Eibach pro 2r suspension and set to 1.75” lift.
Also added 2024 Raptor wheels with 285/75r17 Toyo Open Country AT3s.
