Deathly Hallows full-cast audiobook review : sounds way too real

Listening to the Deathly Hallows full-cast audiobook is to be invested in a wizarding civil war as if it was a real one, in a universe you spent dozens of hours listening to.

I felt sick at Hermione's torture, it was so realistic it was like being there. Voldemort's screams of rage gave me goosebumps, and the final duel felt like a theater play.

While the Battle of Hogwarts was incredible, I wanted more sound effects when Hogsmeade village came to the rescue. Also, hearing Ron speak Parseltongue made the worst plotline in the series even more cringe.

Finally, forgive me for this, but Harry's grunts after seeing Tonks and Lupin's corpses sounded like a fart (though I wasn't all there as I was listening at 1:00 AM, so I'll have to check it out).

Pros:

  • Voldemort is scarier than ever.

  • Immersive, epic battles and emotional scenes.

  • Feeling like you're in the Great Hall for the final duel.

Cons:

  • Hermione is almost the only one screaming (though she does a great job at it).

  • Voldemort howling "HUWWWWAAARRRGHHHHHH" when stealing the Elder Wand, guaranteed to wake up the whole castle, while the narration claims he wants to be discreet.

  • Harry screaming at Aberforth "I MUUUST FINISHHHH YOUUU KNOW WHOOO..." right after saying they need to be low-key until curfew lifts.

Verdict: 9/10

As J.K. Rowling perfectly put it through Dumbledore: it is happening inside our heads, yet it feels real—even more so in this full-cast audiobook edition, which will endure many generations.

Thank you all for reading my reviews! (I need to touch some grass now.)

The more you live exclusively within your own community, the more you're going to fight over small differences. It’s actually a studied phenomenon called the "narcissism of small differences."

Lebanon has 18 sects in part because identical people couldn't tolerate living together and decided to segregate. For example, Greek Orthodox and Greek Catholics are nearly identical, except for their allegiance to Rome.

Now, let's have Maronites, Sunnis, Shias, etc., live exclusively among their own - in an even smaller territory - and you’re going to see a mental breakdown worse than the current one.
