Intermittent cold start misfires

Own a 99 civic ex (d16y8) work car. Sees mostly high way miles 4x a week. When the car sits for a couple days and can sometimes struggle to start and then when it finally fires bogs/breaks up real bad until it reaches operating temperature. During this, you can definitely smell gas, almost as if its flooded. One warm, it runs perfectly.

Ive noticed this can happen when sitting for a few days, but can also occasionally happens after I fill up with gasoline the next time I go to start it.

Any ideas? Plus/wires have roughly 35k on them. Car had 263k on it. Possibly a ignition coil, distributor cap in general? Fuel pump purges fine. Dirt MAF? PGM-FI failing? Curious if anyone else has had a similar problem and what they did to fixIT.

New driver (start Friday) Looking for tips

Context

I signed up this week and am going to run on weekends for some extra cash. I have a pretty good full time job ($30.30 an hr in a low cost of living area) and work 4-10's monday-thursday so my schedule works out really well to make some extra cash on the weekends. I just bought a house that im fixing up, trying to save money on the side, and have some dental bills so this will help exponentially.

Im looking for tips/tricks from experienced drivers. Im going to try to keep it pretty local. I live in a decently sized town (essentially a densebmini city), packed with restaurants. Theres also a bunch of smaller towns/suburbs within 10 miles each way. What should I be prioritizing for efficiency, what to look out for, and what NOT to do.

Thanks in advance everyone!

🔥 Hot ▲ 9.3k r/FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I did it, Finally at 36 y/o! Altoona $89.1k, 5.275%

Closed on Friday. 1873sq ft fixer upper in my area's city. Off st parking, fenced in .37 acre, 2.5 bedroom, 1.5 bath, living room, dining room, family room, finished attic, unfinished basement.

EDIT: WOW. I was not expecting this level of support! You guys rock!! Im excited! I always said my first house will be a fixer upper. I made sure I chose a solid neighborhood for the area so that does some heavy lifting when I go to resell in 5-7 years.

The goal is:

  • Replace any facial sofet, and window trim that needs it and paint/treat the rest, getting everything one unison color that controls the tan brick nicely.
  • Completely renovate the kitchen
  • Renovate the bathroom (still undecided exactly how im going to play it)
  • Strip and finish all the 1st floor hardwood (they painted it black) to bring the original hardwood back to life.
  • replace all remaining single pane windows with vinyl double hung (there about 7 that are still single pane.
  • blacktop the off street parking lot (its gravel/dirt currently)
  • add tool shed in the backyard
  • add canopy style carport over the parking lot.

Most of this i can do myself. I will contract out the windows as a buddy of mine has a solid connection for windows, so id be getting a deal while helping a small local business.

Thank you to everyone.

Playstation 5 sim wheel suggestions for 550usd budget

Context:

I have a buddy who's looking to put together a sim setup for casual sessions on a hard set $550 budget for wheel setup and wheel stand. He's not looking for anything serious but is open to the fact that the bug is real and it may end up biting him. Mainly looking for a rig they can slide in front of the TV when hosting parties.

I myself started out on a desk mounted G920 w/ logi shifter and transitioned to a Moza R9v3, Simsonn ProX pedals, and SHH thorn shifter mounted on a Vevor XPro wheel stand (I'm on PC). Because of my experience and seeing the sheer difference between the gear driven logitech to the DD Moza, It's really hard for me to recommend anything outside of direct drive.

I'd LOVE to here directly from Playstation wheel users!

The problem I'm having:

Playstation native support is extremely limited I'm finding out, especially on a budget. Fantec seems to be the only game in town for a plug and play native direct drive system however their cheapest offering for Playstation is a whopping $700. I originally was going to recommend the Moza R3, the R5, or a PXN VD6, or turtle beach Vone. Even considered the Simagic Entry bundle (NeoX 330R variant). All are GREAT options for a rig to grow into rather than out of, but absolutely none offer native Playstation support.

That's where the adapter comes in. I've heard/watched that the adapters gut the feedback (essentially cutting it in half) and strip a lot of the fidelity out. With this being a casual setup being used primarily for entertaining at house parties, a plug n play setup is mandatory. An adapter complicates things on top of the feedback/fidelity issues. If I'm wrong on this, please explain because after all this is why I'm posting and want legit feedback here.

What I've come up with for the budget:

I know it's not ideal and would LOVE to get him into a DD, but given the circumstances, this is the next best thing I could come up with. It gives him a FULL setup w/ clutch, h pattern, and wheel stand.

Thrustmaster 300rs GT

Thrustmaster TH8s shifter

Vevor X Pro wheel stand (wheel stand is important over cockpit so it can be slid out of the way after use)

Total after creator code discount ordering from Thrustmaster direct (and free shipping) plus Vevor wheel stand on Amazon using prime shipping ------ $538.99

ALL feedback and suggestions will be taken in consideration and I look forward to hearing them. Thank you in advance!

Worst trip experience of my GPS life

Had roughly an hour drive this morning for an appointment. Was somewhat familar with the route but not familar enough to drive blind. Inputted the route in and got there without a hitch. Took the highways for most of the drive until i got in town. Took about 55 minutes.

Heres where it goes downhill exponentially. For some reason it routes me an entirely different way on the way back and i hadn't recognized it until i was already in deep enough. It added another 25 minutes onto my return trip as time went on and quite a few more miles. I spent the entirety of the trip on very small rural roads, 25% of them being tar and chipped, completely torn up for contruction. Altogether this return trip took me about 1 hour 25 minutes and completely trashed my car.

Why in the world would it think taking this route over the exteemely efficient highway route i took in would be a good idea? Ive never been more frustrated with gps than i am now
