Long Delay For Moh's Surgery

Last week I was diagnosed with a Squamous Cell Carcinoma, on my forehead just above my brow. It's really noticeable. My healthcare provider, whose initials are K-P, has an earliest Moh's appointment for 8 weeks from now. This thing continues to grow despite the biopsy sample that was taken.

8 weeks seems like a long time to have this thing. Are there other options?

1987 Schwinn Cimarron Resto

This bike's first owner rode it on local MTB trails for a few years, then parked it. Now, I'm the 2nd owner. It got new decals and a few updates, but I think it still retains much of its original spirit. I'm using it for gravel and cruising.

Might even get some round chainrings for it but for now I don't mind the Biopace.

Super Glide Tank Gap

I saw the new Super Glide at Born Free this weekend. Beautiful bike and I'm considering getting one! There was one little annoying thing though, and that's this little, visible gap where the tank meets the seat. Could they not have put a wider dash panel on there to cover it up? I hope the aftermarket comes up with a solution to finish this a little nicer.

Illegal Dump Pickup?

Rose Park South. Yesterday, someone in the apartment building next door left quite a pile of old furniture in front of my house, with a sign that says FREE. When I began to move it, a woman started yelling out her front apartment window, but not really making sense. I put a dump pickup request into the GoLongBeach app. Does anyone know how long they usually take? TIA

Canti Brake Broke

1987 Schwinn Cimarron. The bike is otherwise very nice and worth saving. I assume this little boss can be welded back on?

I've never seen this happen before 😭

Clamp Diameter Adjustment

My problem: I recently got this nice 1987 Schwinn Cimarron, but I hated the stem and bars that came on it. I bought a sweet late-80s stem on eBay but forgot that it had a 22.2 mm diameter clamp, and the Simworks Getaround bar I wanted to use was 25.4 mm. Solution: After a little clearance measuring, I asked a buddy with a machine shop to increase the clamp's diameter. No material was taken from the top and bottom, only the sides, which is why the gap increased a bit. I still like it! So far it feels solid, but my first ride will be tomorrow (pics are before and after).

Saw a Dog Hit by a Car on Broadway Last Night

I was sitting in my parked car on Broadway, maybe around Temple (?) last night around 7:30 when a dog shot out from the sidewalk to the street, just in time to get hit by a car driving past me. It was awful! The dog wasn't on a leash and the owner was nowhere in sight. After a few very loud yelps, the dog crawled under a parked car. Neighbors came out. The driver stopped and came to see about the dog. There was nothing anyone could have done to prevent this (other than the owner who was missing).

Someone said they were bringing a veterinarian who lived nearby. The dog was still alive under that car, and for all I know it was okay, but I left. I did a quick google search for animal services in Long Beach but I couldn't find any.

What could I have done better? Is there a city resource for helping animals like this? None of the neighbors I talked with knew how to deal with this.

I hope that doggie was okay.

XBiking or VintageMTB?

I was recently gifted this 1987 Schwinn Cimarron. The frame was powder coated but its the original color and I'll soon apply the correct decals. I have a directional quandary-- do I go more VintageMTB or more XBiking? VintageMTB might look like period correct stem, bars, skewers, brakes, pedals, etc. whereas an XBike build would be more modern, fun and comfortable for me.

Is there any value in keeping this thing close to original? (note that I fully understand I'll never recoup the $ spent on this if I choose to sell it). I'm leaning towards making it more fun and modern.
