Something has been bugging me

Not sure if ought to be a discussion flair or a question one, but I am open to advice. (Also if you somehow recognize me from this post, no you don't).

I have been feeling like the setup of the job market is leading me astray when it comes to focusing in on what I want: A career in film.

For reference, I (25 M) graduated from college back in May 2025 and lost a potential job due to the CPB funding cuts (make a long story short). Since then I have found it difficult to really find much work in production, though I am able to get gig work doing short films for other people in my area (Philly) as a sound operator. That has helped me meet a ton of people and I have a very strong network there.

I also just finished an internship at my city's Public Access TV station which has lead to a load of new opportunities but none of them are really "employment". From starting a new documentary project with one of those former interns, to getting my own show off the ground (which has been incredibly exciting).

All the while i'm hoping to find a job somewhere. TV, Film, anywhere really. But I feel like sending my resume to a bunch of places isn't the way into getting myself off the ground (stable pay, moving out of my parent's house, etc). I feel like continuing to just make more things until I get noticed is more of the way "in". And I want to know if other people have felt that way.

Conversational based inductions with Aphantasia subject.

Not much context to give, but I have a subject with Aphantasia who is interested in being hypnotized. I am thinking about doing a conversational based induction since that way the "questions" the subject acts to fill in the visualization gaps can help get her into trance. Has anyone tried to do this or know any good resources?

The Knights of the Black Sword and the Reghed Nomads: Making These Two Factions More Relevant.

Hey all!

So right now my party (lvl6) is leaving the Id Ascendant with the bell from Angajuk's bell to return it and potentially use Angajuk to journey to Auril's island.

At this point in the campaign, both the Knights of the Black Sword and Reghed Nomads have not really done much in the campaign and I feel like now would be a good time to introduce them/give them more to do. Let's talk Knights first.

The Knights of the Black Sword

The only encounter the party has had with them was during an encounter with Avarice. I had Skelm watching the party from session 1 and after they caught on to this raven that's following them our wizard decided to kill it. Avarice, originally disinterested in the party, felt pretty slighted by this so when the group was leaving Caer Konig after finishing The Unseen she and an entourage of Knights pulled up to have "a chat". Was a fun moment.

The only other moment related to the Knights was a Zhentarim raid the party undertook. The Zhents were going to sell weapons stolen from the Bryn Shander guards to the Knights and the party put a stop to that.

So because the Knights have been for the most part left alone, the Keep at Caer Dineval was never investigated. So I think now would be a good time to have Knights pop up at locations like the Lost Spire of Netheril (a place the party also didn't go to) and at Angajuk's bell (so that they can go to Auril's Island and get the codicil of white). I'm curious if I was the only person who have thought to do something like this, because if I am not I would be curious to see what other people did.

The Reghed Nomads

Fortunately, one of my party members has the Reghed Heir secret. Unfortunately, they haven't come up at all - which while the party member hasn't exactly complained about it's been hard to get them to fit? I think it's fair that they haven't done jack since the party has mostly been in Ten-Towns for a majority of the campaign but I don't want them to all-of-a-sudden be relevant at like, the Auril Trials. That would feel poorly paced.

Speaker Maxildanar has been assassinated. What next?

Hey all!

So during last session's downtime my Bard player conspired with an NPC (not from the book) to assassinate Speaker Maxildanar. Their motivations vengeance based as she believes the speaker was a part of a Zhentarim plot to poison her lover. This happened in complete secrecy from the party and the town guard, and the entirety of Targos is shut down. No one in, no one out.

I am curious what the implications of this assassination should be for this character and by extension the party. Their group was just awarded medals of high honor and given a bastion by Easthaven (and all of Ten-Towns) for dispelling the Duergar threat. All to say, the party has a generally good reputation.

PLAY ME MY THEME MUSIC - Advice to introduce Vellyne Harpell?

Hey all,

Tonight my party shall meet Vellyne - as she is arriving to their bastion to hire them for her own quest. I'm curious, what kind of music would fit her vibe/be cool for her introduction?

Help bring life back into my first ever EDH deck - Chainer, Nightmare Adept

Hey folks,

I've had this Chainer deck since 2021 and compared to my other lists I feel like it's starting to fall really short compared to how my other decks play. The idea is pretty straight-forward, an aggressive reanimator strategy, but I feel like the curve is a little scuffed as the deck fails to really do much without my commander being out.

Maybe i'm running too many high-impact bombs, maybe not enough ramp? Not really sure. Open to any and all critique. https://moxfield.com/decks/Qmr0zKYCE06gBe7Cf7510Q

[DM HELP] My party didn't start in a tavern, they started in a...

Looking to get some inspo for a short campaign I hope to run over 4-5 sessions. I have some ideas for premises but starting locations I find color much of what follows in a campaign so I seek some inspiration on some more creative ways you guys have started your campaigns.

Not new but interested in upgrading.

Greetings!

I got into IEMs back in college and I've been into them ever since. My first ones were the KZ ES4s which while they broke a lot (which i'm now learning from others that QC issues are very real) were incredibly convenient and sounded a lot better than anything else I could've gotten my hands on at that price. Thinking it would be an upgrade I got the ZSN Pro Xs and while they've been fine my left one is starting to fall apart (the plastic that holds in the insert for the pins has been compromised; now every time I unplug the wire it comes with it meaning I pull some of the internal wiring out instead of unplugging the cable which leads to the rigamarole you can expect).

With that being said (and with some deeper research) I think it's time for me to move on from KZ. I'd be interested in anything in the $30 pricepoint that will last and is relatively balanced. I do sound work for movies and QC for audiobooks so I need something that isn't too basey or too sparkly (though V sound is fine).

Kind of feel like the combat encounter at Jarlmoot isn't...Giant-y enough...

The frost giant skeleton is cool but the invisible stalkers don't feel evocative enough. Any changes people made to the trials?
