Today I noticed something weird outside my window. It was a long day filled with tedious lawn work and picking up the sticks in the street. Across the road was almost a jungle at this point. Me and the city have gone back and forth on who is responsible for it and who will press charges. I’m broke, so I suck it up and pick up the sticks every now and then. By the time the sun fell from the sky I was a walking corpse, I decided to go up to my room and start my nightly ritual drinking and smoking a blunt. After a couple shots I see two white objects across the street in the woods. Almost like two glasses, plates reflecting the light of my room shining back at me. I kept smoking and just watched them. I figured it was because I was buzzed and can’t trust my brain right now Honestly, maybe it’s just a weird sign I never noticed. But something held me captive about those shiny shadows. I probably would have lost interest if the shining circles didn’t move out into the light. A face of some sort of animal staring at my house, its face was wrong in nature. The best way to describe it is as if a rodent was made to survive in the deep ocean, if you sewed the face of a lure fish onto an overgrown rat. Eyes bulging from the sockets uncontrollably almost like they were about to jump out at me. I wasn’t scared and like I said earlier for some reason my glance couldn’t be broken by Steele. I probably would have sat there all night staring at that thing. My eyes burning but refusing to close like my eyelids were ripped off, Not even the burn of my blunt couldn’t break its hold on me. It wasn’t until the face returned to shadows almost like a puppet pulled behind the curtains. I somehow blacked out and wouldn’t wake for hours. I woke up to a scream ripping its way straight out of hell, a scream like whipping a pregnant cat around. I was shaking for almost two hours listening to that nightmare of a sound, hid under my blanket and attempted to sleep as long as I could trying to forget about the whole thing.

When I woke up the world was painted blue as the sun slowly crept awake. I stepped outside and was automatically hit by the overwhelming scent of aquatic life and sewer water and the street was blanketed in the dirty wet fog, the river sat just behind my house. I remember being so little me and my siblings running to it like it was calling us, like a siren was waiting in the smelly brown water. But always just before we could ever get close my grandmother would yell at us screaming about how we are to stay away from the river. I always argued never really understanding why. I decided to get the sticks out of the way since I knew there had to be something after last night. After picking up most of the sticks I noticed something laying on the floor of the forest across the street, a lump laying flat with a soft glow like a dying fire. I slowly fought my way through the green giant to make my way to the mysterious glowing lump. The closer I got the more this urge grew inside of me, the more that flame roared calling to me. When I was finally standing over it my intrusive desire exploded without warning. What I picked up was a blanket of hard fleshy designs. It was hard and looked like it had been stretched in all sorts of monstrous ways. I didn’t know what it truly was but what I definitely knew is that the longer I hold this thing the more my hands are burning, like a thousand needles shooting into my hands. When I finally ripped my grip away it felt like acid on my hands. I looked at my palms and saw little dots slowly disappear. I also started to realize whatever I was just touching smelled like a decomposing body, a maggot covered trash can, and memories from my childhood I would rather not relive. The forest around me was silent, no bugs, no birds, not even a frog. The world around me was a space of silence and fear. I walked out of the woods as quick as I could, regretting leaving my house. As I pushed my way back out of the woody womb it felt like something was trying to hold me back. Soft tugs on my spine the farther I ran, almost like someone was holding it slowly removing it from my back. I just kept running back to the house hating that I even decided to wake up, running in the house and slamming the door. The crash blew through the house like a gunshot through the woods. I decided to hide under my blanket for the next couple days.

I’ve been sick for almost a week now. I’ve been trapped in my bed tossing and turning like a fish out of water. My stomach felt like someone was mixing up barbed wire and glass. My back was burning like a rash morphing into sunburn. My limbs and bones were aching like there were being twisted and pulled in unnatural ways. The worst part of it all was my eyes. They were burning and pulsing like a hammer was hitting them from the inside of my head. I was rotting, maybe it was just the inside of me coming outside. All I’ve ever been was human rot decaying the small glimpses of light in the world and every person that has tried to reach out and love me. I’m a mold that spreads the closer I get. I’m a plague that kills you if you touch it. I was rotting in this residence of rot that my grandma left me. She would be so disappointed if she saw how this place is looking nowadays. Floors falling in, rips in the sealing, and pipes that leak even when you don’t run water. She used to always keep this place spotless. She wouldn’t leave a spec of dust or a smudge anywhere. I swear when I was a child this place shined, lit up even. But I’ve been here too long. I’ve infected this house slowly killing it from the inside out. I could call my mom or dad and worry them, whine about how I’m sick and that I need their help again. I could call them and tell them how lonely being an adult is but I won’t do that. Sometimes it feels like I’ve been alone so long that I’ll never let anyone past my walls. The same walls that feel like they're slowly ripping apart.

A couple days had passed and my illness only got worse. But as the days went on, my house still needed to be taken care of. I sobbed lightly as I pulled myself off of my stained twin size mattress that laid on the floor. My bones cracked as I walked, every step started to feel like gravity was confused on where it was pulling me and each joint decided different directions. My lips felt like I hadn’t had water in days cracking and bleeding each time I moved them, even the small act of licking my lips was pure agony. Most of the house chores were easy enough; it was the grass and gathering those damned sticks. When I stepped outside I noticed an abundance of things, my grass had grown more than I’d ever seen but what was odd was not even the pace of the growth, but because it wasn’t standing tall. The grass had grown into what I can only describe as a spill of vines like snakes locked in knots and twisting in natural ways. Just seeing that made my eyes pulse and I felt little bubbles popping behind my eyes almost like air pockets in water. The pain my body was in was enough to send me inside but the only thing that kept me in that muggy heat was the road. Not my street but there’s a driveway or road in the woods across from my house. Surely I would have heard a fucking truck or them cutting down trees or something? I mean these woods are not for the weak and definitely wouldn’t be a quiet task. I walked over to the sticks in the road. Only this time the sticks looked purposely laid out almost like some form of pentagram type symbol but it’s more complex with too many steps. As I started to pick up the branches and creepy rubble I noticed the road didn’t have an end or at least not one I could see. In fact I didn’t see any street sign or a work truck hell I didn’t even see a fucking house! The road just went on encased in trees and other floral wonders. I tried my best to just forget about the road and just focused on the sickening task that was the grass. After three hours of running my lawn mower over them And two breakdowns I finally got the grass done, I put up the lawnmower made my way back into the rotting carcass of a house got into to my bed to hide under my blanket and pretend I’m a rock and try to escape the racing thoughts in my mind while my body aches and oozes sickness.

I hadn’t looked out my window or drank or smoked in at least a week, truth be told this is the longest I’ve done that since I was 16. I’ve been so sick I don’t feel like breathing much less moving, plus I haven’t been able to get that weird animal out of my head the way its eyes naturally burst out of his sockets so uncomfortably. I know it had to be so much agony just to exist like that, your only way of survival is pain. Tonight as I finished up dinner I walked past the window like I do every time I head to the stairs. The second my head peaked over to get a sample of the nightmares waiting I was locked in a frozen trance. What I saw was something of hellish nightmares and I wouldn’t even wish such sights on my enemies, the creature was standing there. Right there in the middle of the damn road! It was just standing there melting me with its huge glossy sick eyes. The creature was something I cannot imagine of this world, maybe not even of this universe. In the middle of the road stood a 7 to 10 foot stocky humanoid creature with large lumps and growths all over its body, with long unnatural limbs also littered with humps of unknown origin. They had fins and barnacles placed all over.
, to be honest I’ve never even seen a fish with fins like that. The creatures had some form of worms or tentacles ripping from its body and the only reason I could see this monstrosity of nature was the fact that the road was lit up. Lit up with all sorts of colors, colors that no man had discovered nor had been taught in basic schooling. Colors that I’ll never be able to describe but will now always feel. I blacked out and somehow opened my eyes standing outside right in front of the creature. I don’t know what made me more sick the sewer smell, the rodent fish face , or the thick oozing slime it was doused in. The creature grabbed my wrists and violently forced them into what I can only assume are gills. I would tell you how gross or squishy it was but I didn’t feel any of that in fact I didn’t know if I was even still alive. My head was suddenly flooded with flashing images of creatures, creatures that our simple brains can’t begin to understand. I saw cities and fortresses built by no man that went on for centuries, then the colors intensified into colors beyond any living organism. Colors that you don’t see but instead feel wrapping around like a warm fuzzy snake. Colors that have destroyed societies and created stars, but between the entire interaction my brain felt like it was being electrocuted over and over. Imagine the most overwhelming feeling ever then add a feeling of your brain moving around as if it’s trying to force itself from your skull. Before I could try to understand what was going on it let out a shriek. Feeling like my ear drums were splitting in half I woke up in my yard, my bones and eyes hurting worse than ever. “What the hell is going on” I muttered defeated and overwhelmed.

At least a month has passed since my illness began and every second of it has been nothing but hell. I haven’t bothered to scare myself by looking in a mirror. I knew my appearance was being altered cause I spent all this time feeling my body being broken apart and put into place. My legs and arms seemed to linger like my bones were stretched. My flesh was warping and cracking with a clear liquid oozing from every break. My lips and cheeks felt as if a hook on each side was pulling them apart. My face felt like someone was stretching and rearing my skull like putty. My eyes began to grow too big for my skull, almost like two huge bubbles, pulsing and scabbed up like a burnt victim . The itch was unbearable and I know I had scratched my eyeballs at least three times a day. Blood and puss leaking had drowned most of my vision no matter how often I tried to wash my face off. The last light I saw was my phone ringing from my mother calling me. I answered after a couple painful breaths and she automatically starts saying how she hasn’t talked to me in a while and she misses me. I tell her I’m sorry I’ve been busy with life making every excuse my sponge brain could put together doing my best not to alarm her with how I really felt. She continued with how worried she was but I cut her off.
“I’m sorry I’ve never been a good son or a good man in general I don’t know why I am the way I am. I think there’s just always been something inside me eating away at my heart and my brain making me do the stuff I do” I hung up before she could even respond. I think I was honestly afraid of what she had to say or what she would see if she thought to come over. All I could do was look down at the lumps that had started to grow splattered on my body like a sick art piece. Spitting out clear chunky liquids almost like pimples the size of soccer balls. I fought myself out of bed sobbing this time like a scared kid in the dark. When I got to my feet I felt my feet now longer and letting the same clear liquid adjust to their new sticky twisted body. My muscles twisting and turning as I make my way out of the house. Leaving that rotting pile of sticks one last time never appreciating what my grandma ever did or gave me but now I could care less. Deep in my body I felt one thing, a sudden hunger. All I could smell was this sweet sickly smell like a scent that you knew you shouldn’t love but god I was going to find it. I ran across the street not even thinking twice that I wasn’t running on a road but again threw thick violent forest. The deeper I clawed my way through the more there were flowers of all sorts. Ones I’ve never seen or heard of huge beautiful colorful flowers littering this prison of green. When I finally made my way to the source of my deep desire. The creature laying there a pale greenish grey and blue almost looks like a balloon slowly losing life. I didn’t care and I don't know if I would have cared if this was a puppy or a baby I ripped through it. It broke almost like a shell of a bug fragile yet textured and the more I broke the more my new elongated snout twitched. Inside contained what seemed like dead limp worms, I reached in and stirred my hands through the squishy corpses. When I did I felt a flicker almost like a small shock from a plug in socket. The colors are just a hint, just a sample of those beautiful world twisting shades. As soon as the feeling left I started to consume bites and swallow the soft chewy serpents. The more I ate the more I was drowning, swimming in colors and visions of a world far beyond our space beyond anything a human could come to peace with. The colors held me like the first time you come skin to skin with your mother. The warmth holding me, filling my skin moving it around like a leather suit. I couldn’t fight it and why would I. It felt like home, almost like I had always belonged here and never there. I’m lost in the orgasm of the colors and the creatures.
