Dementia symptoms or severe depression?

(Sorry about my English. I am not a native speaker.)

My mother (69) has always bit a bit weird although during menopause she had a very frightening psychosis episode. Has hearing problems, too. Following years were a bit better. But since my father died in 2020 she is going progressively down. Can't make simple math calculations (she is a civil engineer), have troubles with dates and work schedule, can't use public transport to go to a place we go often and she used to live, can't hold a simple conversation, can't explain... Hardest part is she that constantly loses or damages things and blames the others - colleagues, cat, neighbours, me, etc. Stopped using the PC, or the phone. Claims she can't. And she used to. No interests - only talking about work and bad things in general. Few days ago she locked me inside home and said it wasn't true, threw a tantrum when I just tried to explain and ask her not to use one of the locks.

Others have noticed that, too. My 90 yo grandmother's mind and abilities are much more preserved, for example. As I said my mother was always a bit of difficult character but at least she used to read and was adequate with everyday tasks. Now she's struggling with everything.

I really don't know what to do. Going through a heavy divorce and perimenopause myself and of course there's no support from her side.

Hard breakup/divorce

Hello. Sorry for my English. Not a native speaker.

How to start... I am female, almost 40 years old. Last 7-8 years I found the best person, my other half. It was shared. At least he said so. He wanted the marriage, made me move away with him last years, left my job. It was good. We were together all the time, had similar interests, had fun. Last year there were some money issues and health issues (early menopause and depression because of that with me). We were good, still, overall. At least he said so. Until he waited me to go away and said he wanted divorce out of the blue, a day after he told me he loved me, etc. Without further explanation. Didn't even wanted to see me in person. He knew I had one suitcase with summer clothes, no job and no money but loans and empty credit cards. Told me hurtful things. I didn't contact him. Didn't ask for my belongings back. I was hurt. In shock. It continued. No contact. I stepped on my feet, relatives helped me a bit. Found job. Continued functioning somehow. Now after six months he started calling usually at night. But not to ask how I am and yo talk like an adult but to demand divorce again. I am broken. Crying every day. Have no one left to talk with. My mother has other issues and doesn't understand me. I wasn't the perfect partner, I am aware of that. But didn't cheat or did anything to be literary thrown out like a stray without explanation and serious conversation. At least he could see me in person...

That's it. Just wanted to tell someone else rather than ChatGPT...
