KK Scale 1:12 Skyline R34 is Legit!

Made an exception to pick this up as Porsches are my forte. Had a 20% PayPal cash back offer through EBay so it was perfect opportunity. Not familiar with this brand but reviews said good things. Cracked it open, unscrewed from base and was amazed. Paint was really nicely done, body proportions and wheels/tires are spot on. Engine bay has nice details. Cons: the interior isn’t the best, taillights missing the small amber for the turn signals. For $250 USD I am more than pleased. Hope they release a midnight purple version of this!

VA Costco Remnants

Been on the hunt for that purple Porsche but no luck these past few weeks. Albeit after doing some gymnastics I scored (2) Grand Nationals in the back end cube about 3 weeks back prior. Apparently nobody wants the Mustang GTDs as they are plentiful in this stack…

25% Coupon Up For Grabs

HF keeps sending me “we miss you, take 25% off any item” texts. This is how I built up the Barney tool chest system. I’ll be donating it to one lucky Reddit user (expires 9/8) by 8AM EST 9/3. Simply comment what you’d buy and what color. Pic of my newest addition - full bank cart for 💩s and giggles…I’m tapping out for any large purchases going forward…

How Much Purple? Yes.

Midlife birthday gift to myself was a dream tool storage system that I had room to grow in. (1) 56” is for renovation/carpentry tools, the other 56” and 72” is for automotive tools. 27” is for small parts/misc. was going to do an second 22” end locker, but the damaged unit ratio I lost hope with as the 27” in its intended place is better situated.

I figured I’d let everyone know the lead times and damage report for these items:

56” Roll Cab - 6 weeks, small bend on bottom side edge.
56” Top Chest (both)- 6 weeks, no damages
56” Roll Cab #2 - 5 weeks, no damages
72” Roll Cab - 6 weeks, no damages
72” Top Hutch - 5 weeks, bottom frame heavily damaged, refunded & replacement ordered.
72” Top Hutch Replacement - 2 weeks, small indention on bottom (20% refund issued).
22” End Locker - 4-6 weeks, top corner heavily damaged, 2nd unit bottom corner damaged, 3rd unit good.
27” Roll Cab - 4 weeks, bottom edge medium damaged (issued 20% refund).
27” Top Chest - 4 weeks, no damages.

My local HF store is phenomenal as the employees there are very friendly and respectful. They have no control of how these large items are handled from the time they leave the factories to the time it shows up on their semi truck delivery.

Won the FMP Lottery?

Browsing FMP in between bench sets and stumbled across a listing for “Garage Mat”. Zoomed in and looked to be Swisstrax pearl gray tiles! Got there and homeowner said it came with the house and didn’t like the feel on his bare feet. Gave him the full asking of $100 for the 300 pieces. Just need to power wash em before I do the install. I’ve compared details of the pictures on the web and believe these are the real deal Swisstrax!

Stretching the Legs of the Engine Hoist

My good friend whom usually helps me with heavy items is out of town and my elderly neighbor can’t lift much. After seeing a thread or two with this method - it worked out just beautifully. Lower the top chest onto some 2x4 blocks set on top of the roller cab and then do your final shifting before one lifts each side up and your friend pulls the 2x4s from underneath. Just be sure to protect your top box with plastic and cardboard from the tie strap hooks/ratchets from creating any damages.

Full Bank for a 3D Printer Stand?

With the upcoming August PLS and the carts going on sale - what’s everyone’s thoughts on getting a Full Bank cart for a 3D printer stand? I like the fact that all drawers are at least 3” in height to store filament rolls. The 27” roll cab crossed my mind but has a few drawers that are way too shallow. Plus I figure the top of this full bank can accommodate (2) 3D printers if I decide to expand in the future.

72” is a Beast!

Finally after 6 weeks got the email that the roll cab is ready for pickup. Loaded onto trailer and awesome neighbor let me use the tractor. This roll cab and pallet is every bit of 550 lbs with the pallet attached. Heavy duty tie strap and slow pulling and it was on the driveway. Thankfully it arrived mint and undamaged. Cannot even imagine trying to get this off a truck bed height - utility trailer is the way to go for roller cabs and pickup beds for top chests/hutches.

Out With the Old and Ordered the New.

Had a slate gray setup for about 6 weeks and never quite grew on me (reminded me of office filing cabinets too much). Unit was mint and 2nd side locker was still new in package. In a whims notice, snapped a pic and posted on FBMP and had (2) buyers lined up within 18 hours time. After having buyers remorse from not going with my favorite color in the first place - ordered a 56” and 72” setup in purple. Ironically, didn’t lose $ on the sale on the gray unit as those were all purchased on sale also. Early July can’t come soon enough for the purps…

Purple or Gray 56" Roller Cab?

Currently have a 56" and 72" in slate gray for my automotive tools. Looking to get a 56" that'll be in the far corner for my renovation/wood tools. Whats everyone's thoughts of going with a purple unit, or should I just stick with the slate gray theme? If it doesn't coordinate - have the option of putting the 56" wood tool chest in the basement on its own.

Best Method for Spraying w/built in Hinges

Have quite a few of these red Gladiator premier wall cabinets in my garage. Would like to get these doors painted in Nardo Gray to match the tool chests and eventually the flooring. The concern is the hinge as the pin is pressed in within multiple dimple spots on each door. Any recommendations as to not have a botched up paint job with the non-separating hinge?

Decided to make the switch to Milwaukee for automotive tools and ordered an M12 3/8” stubby impact with 5.0 battery combo from HD - ordered for in-store pickup that came in a paper HD shopping bag. Got it home (right side) and looks like the box was dropped, opened a few times and the seal was broken already. Tool didn’t “look” used but knowing I’ll be keep this for the long term - wanted to re-assure my $250 purchase would not have any issues past the return period. Decided to place a second order with free shipping to condo and box was mint with the seal intact (left side). Gave me a lot more re-assurance it wasn’t some return or possibly a knockoff. No, I’m not buying it for the box, but assurance I’m getting a tool that’s sealed from the factory.
