Old war movie about tanks

-War movie about tanks, at least the scenes I remember was.

-probably WWII

-Watched around 2005-2008 timeframe but the feature itself likely older, most likely a re-run on channel TV

-English speaking German or possibly Russian characters. Not likely British or American but possible

-2 scenes come to mind that mesh together. First scene is likely about a commanding officer or some senior tanker telling “the new guy” that “if the tank catches on fire you have just XX (10?) seconds to get out before the ammunition explodes”. I definitely remember hearing that line but the context is fuzzy at best

-then later in the movie, you guessed it, the tank catches on fire. One of the characters escapes and looks back as another crew member is crying for help as they are having difficulty getting out of the tank. Memory is unclear whether the ammunition explodes gloriously or flames are scene out of the hatch he is trying to escape out of. Possible the hatch got jammed or clothing was snagged on the inside of the tank. Either way, this guy watches as another guy is killed in a tank.

-setting is likely Europe as opposed to Africa. Snow or forest, not sand as I recall.

-I figure the tank in question is either a T-34 variant or a Panzer 4/3 style leaning towards German.

-movie “felt” older but not ancient. Very “Enemy at the gates (2001)” style of realism and grit with its story and scenes vs older 70’s though 90’s films where everything is more “glamorous” and almost cartoonish (like people throwing arms in the air after being shot) the scene of a tanker being trapped in a burning tank crying for help is the key and really resonated in my memory.

Definitely not Fury/White tiger/T-34

Operation “sirens song” is a go

Gonna make this tomorrow. These Asian tiger mosquitoes will roll down your damn socks to bite your ankles and I’m about to hit them with the super sucker 5k. It’s a 100CFM fan, a rain gaurd, biogen lure, and a homedepot bucket. I plan to set it up like the picture and place it in a shaded spot of my yard.

I’ll report back in 48 hours.

Any tips appreciated, I will not be running CO2 yet as my tank is currently charging a keg of beer.

This thing is a godsend

I always heard putting a hot spoon to a mosquito bite will “neutralize the spit” but it had never worked for me. so I was skeptical when my GF brought home one of these heaters. I used it once on a bad bite on my ankle that I had been itching all day and it worked, no more itching, zero, Done. It’s been about a month now and I’ve probably used it close to a dozen times with great effect. So much so that I’ve associated the mild burning pain from using it to pleasure and crave the sweet burning sting of relief.

[USA] (Near Miss / Heavy Profanity) Following distance is important

I wish I didn’t break the cord to my rear cam so you could see what I saw in my rear view mirror.

Yellow jeep behind me had a large following distance and reaction to the traffic up ahead. They creeped up to about a car and a half’s length behind me. the car behind them didn’t react in time and swerved into the shoulder and up to my rear quarter panel to avoid a collision and nearly spun out. It’s probable that crash would have pushed the jeep into me. I jerked the wheel expecting to have to gun it into the gap to the left of the black car.

If I could do it again I would have gotten closer to the black car sooner once I saw the jeep was reacting properly. I was about 2 car lengths away and closing when the guy swerved into the shoulder but I could have gotten closer sooner so the car behind the jeep could finish looking at their phone.

Calculated speed using 10ft line 30foot spacing of the travel lanes puts me at 47MPH in a 55 immediately before braking. Speed limit ahead on the exit is 40

Critique my .22LR design

30mm OD 25mm ID main tube with 2.5mm walls internally tapped to M27-1.5

The ID will need to be skimmed to 25.4mm for the tap and for the 1” freeze plug baffles and spacers.

6.5” long overall

Front cap is in 2 parts. 1st sits inside the tube to compress the baffles to the rear and center them against one another. Then the front cap threads over and flush with a shoulder.

Rear cap is similar except has a direct thread 1/2 28

Things I might change:

The blast chamber is small. I would probably just reduce the angle on the 1st baffle.

My front cap assembly may be changed to make tightening the inner threaded ring easier. Possible having male threads on this part also that the front cap threads to. Current intended on tightening with a custom pin spanner wrench

Planning on clipping the baffles with a jig.

Designed specifically to minimize machining on a lathe while keeping concentricity

Press forming baffles (Form 1 suppressor)

Has anybody used a live center in something like an arbor press to form baffles from stainless steel discs?

Drawing up designs for a form 1 suppressor and working through all the problems with how I’m actually going to machine/turn/thread/press various elements given the tooling limitations and skill I have.

I want to see if anybody has used a (sacrificial) live center tool for a lathe in an arbor press and a “extrusion” hole to form baffles. Live centers are typically 60* so if I’m able to press a disc of stainless steel to that cone angle and drill out the bore I could stack it with spacers for the internals.

Problems I foresee is that the center could thin out or punch through and widen way past what I’d want for a specific caliber projectile.

I want to start with a .22lr for my first but potentially make 5.56 and .30 cal in the future.

Thanks

Production immediately after paging maintenance

I’m giving it 10 minutes before I walk about because they call me to fix something but don’t say what and there is no one here to tell me.

New pile

I have the grinding from 3 large tree stumps (2 spruce) and (1 cherry blossom type tree) started moving those browns into the bin and layering with greens as I get them. Gave her the ceremonial first piss and plan to wet it with a hose and give a turn occasionally because everything is pretty chunky. Probably will seed it with some box store compost.

Pretty lady sitting on the balcony at her man’s house

This little lady usually rests her head in a tube to the right edge of the tank just out of frame but I caught her ass sitting on the balcony of her man’s house after what I can only hope was some crabflix and chill.

I also saw our man leaving her house the other day so somethings definitely going on between them…

Guy at work hit with these charges

Hope this is the right sub or if I should post elsewhere.

Anyway, Dude wasn’t in work a few days in a row and bosses wouldn’t say why so we did some snooping and turns out he got picked up early one morning. He was previously hit with a DUI in 2012-2013 but did some ARD program (idk what that means for 3rd offense) and recently had another in late 2025. I think he’s still on probation for the 2025 one? Research says he’s getting anywhere from 6months to 3 years but I wanna see what y’all think. Not my charges and no legal advice required or requested, just open discussion.

How to break the suicide run/nuke meta?

TLDR at bottom,

With the new larger map coming out in the near future I’m foreseeing an issue in the current meta that would only get worst. That of course being suicide nuke/radar anti air runs. It’s arguably the most effective way to quickly dispatch of enemy stratos/boltstrikes/LADS/CIWS, Basically all radar anti air. Just load some kingpins on a vortex or if more than 1 target in a small area needs destroyed, optical munitions on a lesser craft like the compass and fly out of radar band launching at the last second inside the WEZ of radar AA and presto, no more pesky radar AA shooting down your Ifrit nuke. And with the larger map the appeal of flying all the way back to base for minimal ”perceived” reward is low even if you manage to survive the initial launch of munitions which is secondary to getting munitions away. What changes would be added in an update or what changes in the current vanilla game as is via mission editing do you think would help encourage ensuring the survival of the airframe?

Some ideas I had personally,

It’s counterintuitive but hear me out, reduce effectiveness of Radar AA against munitions so that it may encourage longer range and more survivable attacks, coupled with IR defense changes (flare effectiveness and re-acquirement) as well as smarter positioning of IR sites further around a base you could limit how close a low flying plane could get. Would also need to rework how saturation attacks like that if the darkreach could perform but that’s easily done on mission editing side.

What could also help is “smarter” AI launcher operators so that they use missiles more smartly and try to not launch at a plane 30 km away that’s notched 10 missiles already. Also reaction time of these operators is insane. This however is extremely time consuming in a development standpoint

TLDR; current meta is to sacrifice an airframe to destroy critical AA, solve by encouraging longer range more survivable attacks via a Radar and IR rework and/or better IR Pickett style defense around limited radar sites (for those of use that attempt to mod/make missions)

What/when to prune with these double branches

As pictured, 2 branches that seem way close together. Which one should I prune and how do I cut with them being so close to one another? Should I wait until after the growing season since I just planted these trees from pots?

Altercation opening proof of viability (5 mins edited)

I slimmed down the chicane to better replicate the agility and payload of smaller helo platforms and destroyed all but 1 enemy anti air and got several air-to-air kills on an almost vanilla altercation run.

current drama aside it was very fun to fly, and the extra agility and speed helped me escape from 2 tricky situations and perform a flank of the highway strip.
