I saw him from afar. The Reddit and Souls community had me worried. Will this be the stop gap for me? Will I finally put the game away?

However, with patience and the skills I learned from Corrupted Monk (draining health patiently to weaken posture), I took both phases down cleanly. Focused on getting shots in for phase 1; then avoiding, deflecting, and pulling out that centipede for phase 2. It’s a clean and repeatable strategy. And it lead to success. A great way to go about it for a first timer.

If I can do it, anyone can. Patience. Hesitation is defeat.

I will complete this game.

We went and saw the 70mm IMAX showing of The Odyssey at West Ed Scotiabank Theatre in Edmonton, AB and it rocked.

I spoke with the manager and they are going to have the print until Aug 12. The two projectionists they have are working every day right now, so not sure how much longer they will have it after that*. Anyway, tickets are going fast for it — so if you have been thinking about seeing it in the best possible format DO NOT MISS IT. It kicks so much ass.

Anyway.

Thinking about seeing the film again but curious if anyone has any suggestions for where to see it. I was thinking the digital IMAX (LieMax) at South Common. Anyone see it there?

I heard the Dolby Atmos theatre at West Ed is good. I heard the Laser Ultra version is pretty great too.

Any fellow format nerds have any hot takes?

I posted a week or so ago with a video of my crappy and lucky defeat of dodge spamming Genichiro. The community here encouraged me (some more encouraging than others) to go back to core mechanics of what the game wanted, and “get good.”

So, I grinded Ashina Genichiro on the Reflections of Strength and I got pretty damn good at getting to the final phase before getting one or two shot killed. I figured I must actually be really bad at the game.

But then I remembered, and confirmed, that yes — the Reflections of Strength are harder.

Now, I am walking through mini-bosses and finding myself a lot more confident and having a lot more fun with the game.

So, I want to thank this community. Some people were dismissive (and that happens on Reddit) but there were more than pushed me to sink into the core mechanics. I’m glad I did. I didn’t think I could play this game, but I very much can.

Side note: Yes, I made and deleted a similar post about this yesterday, but I felt I was more snarky than intended. I truly wanted to show my appreciation to others and share my success. Hopefully I am posting a celebration post in the near future. ✌️

So, the Owners Manual of my 2026 VW Taos suggest an oil change every 15K kms or after a year — whichever comes first. But what is the “great maintenance” number? Any owners do it earlier?

It seems wild to me that a lot of vehicles do oil changes very 8-10K kms but VWs are so much more. My friends think I’m crazy for pushing it to 15K.

What do long time owners of VW vehicles think? What rule should I follow for best practices and to take good care of my Taos?

Elden Ring was my intro to FromSoft. I didn’t think I had it in me, but I became the Elden Lord. Found my way to Bloodborne eventually and loved that even when I beat my head against a wall against some giant wolf in a church.

I dipped into Dark Souls 3 but it just didn’t grab me and made me want to play Elden Ring again.

I had been flirting with trying Sekiro after hearing that Nick Wiger (of Get Played podcast) loved it and beat it. Surely I can do this. Was waiting for a sale, and here it was.

I never considered myself a gamer that liked challenge, I always went for story and RPG mechanics. But Last of Us on Hard mode and Elden Ring… they changed me.

I’m two hours in, I felt good then got humbled. Loving the rhythm, vibe, difficulty, combat, and aesthetic so far. Also, a surprisingly easy story to understand for FromSoft.

Anyway. Happy to join this sub.

Just got a 2026 VW Taos Highline and loving it so far.

I like a pretty clean Digital Cockpit and I prefer my map to be on the main infotainment screen.

However, whenever I select a route on Apple Maps the Nav map automatically populates in the centre of my digital cockpit overtaking the speed, which I have there.

The vehicle settings don’t seem to offer any solutions, the Owners Manual, ChatGPT and my Internet sleuthing can’t help. So time to crowd source!

I don’t mind just simply hitting the digital cockpit buttons on the steering wheel to get back to my preference but in a perfect world that Nav wouldn’t show up there at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

Any fellow VW owners have a mechanic they trust and would suggest? Looking for someone to do oil changes and general maintenance.

I just bought a new car and have never gotten PPF or ceramic coating in Edmonton. Anyone have a place they recommend going? I’m going to get PPF on the front half of the car.

Should I do ceramic protection for the full body as well?

Where do you all think I should go to get the most professional job?

We have decided to go with a 2026 Taos as our first car together. We are a 40 year old couple with no kids. We wanted something with great fuel efficiency and in an affordable price range. I’m super great with my electronics so I imagine I’m going to be a great VW owner as I’m engaged with maintenance plans and upkeep.

We live in Alberta Canada and the winters are harsh. The summers can be crazy hot and drives through the mountains in summer are long.

We are thinking we want the Highline Trim because of the ventilated seats (she runs cold and I run warm) so we have some air flow on hot days and can heat them up in winter.

Any other great advantages of this top trim option we should know about? We’ve also never had a sunroof — any maintenance tips or suggestions on how to care for it?

Open to any and all encouraging opinions!
