Need suggestions for a safe and affordable 3-day Pune trip (2 female travellers)

I’m planning a 3-day trip to Pune with a female friend, and it would be really helpful to get some suggestions from locals.
Here’s our tentative plan:
Friday evening:
We’ll reach Pune around 7 PM and are looking for a safe, comfortable, and affordable place to stay near Pune Airport. Which areas would you recommend for two female travellers?
Saturday – Exploring Pune:
We want to explore the city, visit some good tourist spots, and try local food. Since we’re not comfortable driving ourselves, we’ll be relying on public transport, cabs, or autos. Could you suggest places that are easy to access and practical to cover in one day?
Sunday – Lonavala day trip:
We’re planning to travel to Lonavala by train, explore for the day, and return to Pune the same night. Is this a good plan? Is the train the best option, and are the main sightseeing spots accessible without renting a vehicle?
Monday:
We’ll be leaving Pune for our return journey.
Our main priorities are safety, affordable accommodation, convenient transport, and making the most of our short trip without rushing too much.
I’d really appreciate recommendations for stays, places to visit, food spots, and any tips for two female travellers. Also, please let me know if you’d change anything about this itinerary.
