Discontinued cheese

Discontinued cheese

Absolutely gutted they’ve discontinued this block of cheese. Can anyone recommend something similar? I like to buy a big block but the comparative size block of generic brand cheese is far too mild.
I’d get this or the extra mature.

Is there anything better than sleepy chihuahuas?

I swear, a cup of tea and a cuddle with these two would make even the most rubbish day sunny again.

Dept Q filming

Noticed they’ve cordoned off a big section at the back of Cameron Toll for this. Not sure if actual scenes will be shot or just their vehicles being kept here.

Forgotten book from my childhood

Help me find the title of a book I read as a kid in the early 90’s at primary school in the UK. Probably published 1970s/80s.

Set in a northern English mining village (possibly Yorkshire), probably 1950s/60s.

Main character is a quiet foster boy from a children’s home going to his first foster placement with a mining family. Foster father is a miner working underground. Family live in a terraced house and have several children including a daughter around his age.

Boy gradually becomes attached to the family, attends the same local school as the other children, wants them to become his real family.

Details remembered: village hall bingo, strong community life, miner foster father later unable to work (accident / illness / job loss), boy fears losing family, ending implies family will keep him permanently / pursue adoption.

Possibly someone called Jim/Jimmy/James but not certain.

Theme music in Adventure World

Does anybody else feel like the theme music in Adventure World sounds so much like the opening theme music in Mrs Doubtfire? 😂
Especially the walk up to Arandelle before the switch over to Frozen specific music?

Evening

I’m a late diagnosed (but outwardly obvious since early childhood) AuDHD woman.

Basically, my question is:

Does anyone else get very nervous to the point of puking when going on trips?

Doesn’t matter where the trip is, anywhere that’s not home, I get so unsettled to the point of almost cancelling (I’ve cancelled a lot of trips in the past).

I puke the night before and most of the trip, mainly at night.

It’s not through illness, this correlates with going away.

I also have spells of insomnia at the time of being away, which makes my nerves worse so it’s a vicious cycle. I also have a great issue choosing “safe” food especially if I’ve never been somewhere before, so almost have to have cast iron menu choices locked down to be able to go out to eat. Or else I wouldn’t eat, and in turn, would be more sick through low blood sugar.

Ultimately, this continues to make me miserable. I want to go away, to a beach, enjoy sitting by the water which is a favourite pass time listening to the sea and waves and birds, but this absolutely sabotages any element of the trip being relaxing.

I can at least recognise this happens and have some coping mechanisms to try help me but it happens every time and I am so sad about it. I have a kid as well and don’t want to put this experience on her to think this is what we are like in trips away.

Thanks for any insights or relatable stories. Thanks for reading. Any tips I’d appreciate or anything that’s worked for you.
