Reddit has become weak, and it lost to the likes of Elon and X because of it.

You know how I know you all have lost? Most subs had to literally ban all X posts because it simply didn't fit with your constructed narrative. Most of you are stuck in 2017, rehashing the same old lines and grasping your pearls at things nobody cares about anymore. America is going through a time of strife and turmoil, and the last thing we need is weak willed people who are so frail and sheltered that simply hearing opposing ideas is tantamount to violence. How do you excpect to do anything other than lose if your egos are so fragile? Are so many of you really incapable of introspection, of believing that you may be mistaken? What a miserable existence it must be to constantly hold on to the sinking ship that is 2017 politics. How about instead of running, hiding, and banning the opposition, you actually meet them head on? Or are you all too afraid that you might just be wrong? Afraid that your little community that is hostile to any and all unorthodoxy is actually a cesspool of vile hatred, and not wholesome chungus? If you are on the side of control and censorship, you are on the side of evil, period. It is not red vs blue or Rep vs Dem or Fascist vs Communist. It is those who value freedom vs those who don't. Which side do you wish to be on?

Just got this post removed on the history meme sub because "Jap" is too offensive even in this context. So glad Cobbler is made of sterner stuff.

No One Speaks About War Like Cobbler, Also I Miss The Old Subreddit.

Cobbler brings war to life like I've never experienced before. Not in a horrific way like war footage, but in a more thoughtful way. He conveys the disenfranchisement that he has often discussed so well, so pointedly that it can not be missed. As someone who grew up in what one might call the "American Sniper" era, its nice to hear someone be so serious about what warfare actually is; death and burning villages. No glory, no gallantry. Just piles of the dead and broken men left to set them aflame. There is no wholly good person. In all of us resides the capacity for the same evil that lay in the likes of Cortes or the Romans. You must remain vigilant to your morals, and must resist the urge to treat others cruelly. On a second note, I miss how fun the old sub was. Hope there is still some OGs here. : )

Hey Youtube, we don't need a "Most Relevant" section in the subs tab.

Because that's what the home tab is for. When I go to my subscriptions, I want to see all my subbed channels in chronological order, not some random pick of videos. Seriously who approved this.

I Believe Dumbledore Could've Resisted The One ring.

Much like Faramir Dumbledore had seen first hand how corrupting evil can be, how alluring it can be, and how it always inevitably leads to death and destruction. Faramir sees it consume and eventually kill his brother and father, while Dumbledore's sister is killed due to his lust for power and the Hallows. I think his quote about the Elder Wand demonstrates he would have some resistance to the ring, perhaps even more than Gandalf.

"I was fit only to possess the meanest of them, the least extraordinary. I was fit to own the Elder Wand, and not to boast of it, and not to kill with it. I was permitted to tame and to use it, because I took it, not for gain, but to save others from it.”

I think he would be wise enough to, like Faramir, recognize the danger inherent to the ring and choose not to use it. And at risk of stirring the pot further, I believe Dumbledore's story much more interesting and human than Gandalf's, although I prefer Tolkien's prose. Thoughts?

Faramir Is Easily The Best Character In The Novels.

For one single line: "{Even} if it lay by the highway." This fucking badass has a halfling at his full mercy carrying the greatest power in existence, and not only immediately recognizes its danger, but refuses to even speak more about it. The only others we see with such reservations about the ring are Hobbits, whose kind have been shown to have a resistance to the ring. Despite the embarrassing disapproval of his father, despite living in Boromir's shadow, he knows he is no match for such evil, and that his temptation will not lead to victory, but to a different flavor of ruin, much as Galadriel had foreseen. This in my opinion makes him one of the wisest characters in the book.

Yes Abortion Is Murder. Morality Is The Actual Question.

Everyone always argues whether or not abortion is murder, which is an untenable position to disagree with. Of course its murder, it is the needless, intentional ceasing of life. The question really should be "Is it moral to mass murder children?" We are not the first society to dispose of weak or unwanted young, far from it. So when you discuss abortion don't try and weasel out of the way by using semantics. Argue from an actually defensible position if you want to convince me. Everything is "A cluster of cells". A fetus is indeed a child, even if it doesn't quite look the same. When you get an abortion, outside of medical necessity, you are murdering a child. And perhaps you have a solid reason. But you need to argue that reason, not try and gaslight me into believing its not a murder. We have to stop acting like children about this and speak to the topic directly without any fluff.

Not Everyone Should Be Able Vote.

Go to your local shopping mall and take a look around. It'll probably be empty, so go to a Walmart instead. Do you really think all the people there should have a say in things? People who obviously can't even take care of basic things in their lives, who can't even dress decently? The founding fathers never intended every tom dick and harry to have a vote, and they were right to think so. It really only should be land and business owners, or some other system to route out unrealizable people from voting in foolish politicians and laws. Also the idea that first generation immigrants can vote, let alone hold office is insane. We have politicians with citizenship in their own country claiming they value that country more than America. I know this is unpopular because everyone has been brainwashed by the whole "We're a melting pot! we have to get along with everyone!", but our country will not survive in its current state should that continue. Perhaps we've already crossed the event horizon. I'd be willing to give up my vote to narrow who can in general.
