Been trying for three years to get this picture of the old stacks, the flag, and fireworks in one shot. Finally got just enough wind for the flag to be unfurled and not hidden by smoke from the fireworks at the same time. A7CR+70-200GII.

While I'm a big fan of taking electrolytes on long and hot hikes, I really don't like the powdered drink mixes like Element. I just don't like having to tie up my water bottle that long with any flavored drink mix, and my other water carry container is usually a CNOC Vecto. Also having a last minute bathroom break can be a little messy when you use a bidet on said water bottle.
I've been trying to find tablets or pills that get me the same electrolytes so I can just pop one as needed. But all the ones I've tried just break apart in my pack or hip belt pocket after a few days on trail. Anyone found anything that works well for them if they also don;t like powdered drink mixes? Not finding much searching here this morning.
EDIT: people keep recommending drink mixes, which is NOT what I want. Just pill or chewable recommendations, thanks!
Always one of my favorite local events, both as a spectator and as a way to practice my action photography. All pics taken with Ricoh GR IV Monochrome.
Got my M8 in the last batch and I've been really sucked in having a blast working with a tracker for the first time. This device has so many thoughtful and well implemented ways of making music and managing your data on device. Makes this a real treat to get sucked into wormholes of disappearing time, and not a lot of gear does that for me lately. Props to the Dirtywave team.
All photos are from me as well, cheers!
A few months ago I posted here looking for recommendations for a local woodworker who could help me make a tabletop for my new music studio desk. I got a lot of DMs and recs from people, but ultimately it was u/throwaway_37375 who sent me pictures of her previous work that resonated the most with what I was looking for.
She just finished the tabletop and I couldn't be happier, so I wanted to give her a shout out real quick. The process was smooth start to finish, and the price was very fair given the work involved. She also was the one who told me about Slabyrinth near Eugene which is where I got the burled Elm for this project. Great place I'll be visiting again for wood slabs!
Thanks again u/throwaway_37375, hopefully you'll get some more people contacting you shortly with some projects to work on!
1 - Buttersit. Millers Landing.
2 - We burn it on purpose so it doesn't burn by mistake. Controlled burn near CLH.
3 - Tears from the last person who left their favorite Patagonia hoody at the Amphitheater.
4 - Slow horses at Woodriver Park. Teaching kids that working hard can often get you nowhere.
While I was definitely interested in getting some photos of the lake itself on a last minute trip my wife and I took this week, it was the towns and areas around the National Park that yielded some of my favorite photos of the trip. I like the perfectly framed lens flare bull, happy accident!
GR IV Monochrome. (the red filter was amazing with the crazy deep blue colors of Crater Lake itself)
ALL CAPS AS ALWAYS!
I FINALLY GOT TO SEE MIKE BIRBIGLIA LIVE AND HE WAS HILARIOUS.
I WAS HAVING A LOVELY MORNING WITH THE CAMERA AT FAREWELL BEND THIS MORNING, BUT THE ANIMALS WOULDN'T SHUT UP WITH ALL THEIR COMPLAINTS. ENDED UP LEAVING DUE TO ALL THEIR NEGATIVITY.
Not on the website yet though
IMPROVEMENT
The warning message displayed upon power-up of the camera when a BP-SCL4 rechargeable battery is used has been removed.
Pictures taken in portrait format will now be displayed in full-screen view.
A menu option was added in which focus peaking will be displayed only when focusing is done manually via the MF focus ring.
The currently selected AF mode will now be displayed as an additional icon in the upper status bar.
In AF mode, Tracking will display the frame in the color of the respective detection status. Tracking will remain inactive when no person or animal is detected; green markers signify focus.
TROUBLESHOOTING
An issue occurring in user profiles was remedied: The camera would sometimes freeze when switching from a profile with Leica FOTOS = Off to a profile with Leica FOTOS On. This behavior was corrected.
The color matrices stored in DNG files were updated. As a result, color rendering in third-party software using these matrices for color presets is now improved.
I've been really enjoying my Borah 9x9 tarp this past year, but starting to find myself wishing for something with less coverage to open the views a bit. At my ideal pole height the longer sides of a 9 foot A-frame go almost to the ground if I can't find anything to prop them up with. Also, I've gotten to really like the translucent nature of my DCF tent, and the dark grey of the Borah just feels a little oppressive in the summer time. Finally, knots are fun and knots are useful, but I wouldn't mind going with Line locs this time around if it's an option.
I'm 90% sure the ZPacks DCF tarp will work for me, but wanted to see if there are other options out there worth looking at for DCF flat tarps in this size. Etowah makes one I see, but it's white/silver and I need something a bit more stealth for some of my camping. Anything else I can add to the list to compare and contrast?
I'm US based FWIW. Thanks!

Just noticed that one of the new pine trees I planted a couple years ago had a big chunk of bark missing about 7-8 feet up the main trunk. My first thought was deer rub, but it’s so high up and none of the branches lower down are damaged at all. Neighbor saw me looking puzzled at it and told me it was a small porcupine that likely did it. One of this trees got hit pretty bad a couple weeks ago and they will likely lose the top of it.
I didn’t even know porcupines were a thing here, at least not in terms of them liking to eat yard plants. Advice if this is legit, and not the work of a chupacabra?
