So excited! 😍

I'm getting two new phals from a local orchid hobbyist. One is a peachy pink peloric 'pirate picotee' and the other is a peloric 'kimono'.

These will be my 3rd and 4th orchids after just receiving my first one as a gift less than 2 weeks ago. So my obsession with orchids is already getting a bit out of hand 😅 I'm sure I'll find space for these two but after that it will be a bit tight. I'll probably have to hold off on getting more until I can figure out where to put them.

New mini phal

Orchid obsession has begun 😅 I just got this pretty little lady today, a yellow mini phal 😍

I had to change the medium in the pot straight away even though it's blooming because it was just sphagnum moss and a spongy plug at the base of the roots, all soaking wet. I cut off some rotten roots and put it back in the same tiny pot with orchid bark and sphagnum moss. I hope it doesn't get too mad about me messing with the roots while it's blooming. But I felt like I had to do it for it's own good. I probably should have also put it in a bigger pot but I don't have any. I'll get a pot for it and repot it once it's done blooming.

My colorful studio apartment in Helsinki, Finland

I've posted my dining area here before but wanted to share the rest of my tiny 29 square meter colorful apartment with you. It's coming together nicely. I think it's almost finished now, I haven't changed or added anything in almost a week 😅

First orchid, looking for tips

Hi everyone 👋 I just joined the sub after my friend got me my first orchid as a house warming gift. It's gorgeous so I'd like to keep it alive.

I've already been reading about orchid care and apparently mine is a phalaenopsis, if I'm not mistaken? I know not to repot or fertilize while it's blooming, to water when roots turn silver, keep it an airy mix of orchid bark and sphagnum moss (it seems to already be in this sort of mix), water by soaking for ~15min., not get the crown wet, mist aerial roots and give it bright indirect light (is a bit of direct sun super bad?).

Is there something else I need to know for now? And does my orchid look healthy to you? It has two flower spikes that both have a lot of unopened buds still so I'm hoping it will bloom for a long time. About watering, do I water when all or most of the roots are silver or when I start seeing the first silver roots? It already has some silver roots but most are still green. I haven't watered it yet and am wondering if it's time or not quite yet?

New rugs

I got some new rugs 😍 I know some of you might think I already had enough but I love rugs and I wanted something brown toned for the alcove to match the brown in the curtain and throw pillows. I found two small, old viscose rugs second hand for only 15€ and obviously I had to have them.

I really like how they look in the room and the brown tones and floral pattern go with the alcove decor better than the black-purple rug I had there before. They're also insanely soft 🤎

Let's try this again because I guess I accidentally deleted the post.

So the general consensus was I should not keep my old tablecloth on my new table which I agree with. Runner and place mats were suggested instead. Today I went to a thrift store looking for them and I found 2 place mats and a runner. 2 place mats will probably not be enough for when I have more people over but for everyday life it's enough.

So I'm back asking for your opinion. Which look do you like best, place mats or runner? I have my preference but I'll keep it to myself for now, I'd like to know what everyone else thinks.

I love sitting in my new armchair. I can see nearly the whole apartment and all my beautiful colors, plants, art and textiles from this spot 😍

4 first pics are views from the new chair, 2 last ones are from my other favorite spots in the flat, my futon bed and sofa bed across my dining table. The colors make me so happy ❤️💛🩷🩵💚
