47-year old from London with daughter named Iris - please DM me :)

Today I received a lovely long introduction letter from someone living in Central London. Their daughter is called Iris. The letter was written on beautiful handmade paper.

Unfortunately the letter mentionned no name, no username and no return address 😞

Is this you? Please dm me! I would love to write back to you!

Who sent this pretty card?

Today I received this beautiful card. However there was no name or username mentionned and I can't really tell from the handwriting if it is from someone I swapped with earlier. I would really love to find the sender, so I can thank him or her, as I just love this card!!

Ventrem feri

Hello, classica from Belgium here :)

I just need to share something with people who might actually understand...

I spent the full day today preparing a lesson series for one of my Latin tutoring students. We will be working through the passage about the death of Agrippina in Tacitus' Annales.

I swear, Tacitus' prose is still as breathtaking to me as it was in secondary school, then at university, and now all these years later (I am 46 now). After working through so much of his famous brevitas I reached ventrem feri, and I even got a bit emotional. It's astonishing how two words can carry so much weight and meaning.

I don't really have anyone in my life who would appreciate why this moved me, so I thought maybe some of you would...

Summer exchange - a few cards left [🇧🇪to🇮🇳]

I'm doing a challenge where I am sending 100 postcards during my summer holidays. So far I have sent 74 😊

If you want to exchange a card with me, feel free to dm. New swappers and people with whom I have swapped before are welcome. See below for the card designs that I have left.

I like a nice and personal message on my return card and/or something written in your native language/alphabet. For the rest I have no real requirements.

100 postcards for summer [Belgium to Europe]

My summer holidays are coming up, and I've set myself a fun challenge: I'd like to send out 100 postcards this summer ☀️📬

To make it more fun, I have quite a variety of postcard designs available (see pictures).

Feel free to tell me which design you'd prefer. I'll do my best to match your choice, although I can't 100% guarantee it, as some designs are in limited supply.

I'm from Belgium, but some cards may be mailed from the Netherlands, where I'll be spending some time over summer.

A postcard in return is always appreciated. If you'd like to send one, I especially enjoy:

\- cards written in your native language

\- black-and-white pictures

\- local views and everyday life

All cards will be written and mailed throughout July.

New swappers and previous swap partners are equally welcome 😊 Feel free to dm.

\*Current progress: 16/100 cards sent\*

[exchange] Send me your language on a postcard :) [Belgium to WW]

Hi everyone,

I’m Lena from Belgium, and I’m looking for postcard swaps with people who would be willing to write something on the card in their own language or dialect or alphabet.

It can be a personal message, a fragment from a book or poem, or simply something beautiful or ordinary from daily life that you want to share. I love looking at different languages (even if I don't speak them), alphabets, scripts and handwriting styles, all of them unique expressions of a certain place or culture.

In return, I can send you a postcard from Belgium with something written in Flemish or even the dialect of my city, if you like 😊. I have lots of different themes of cards to choose from: city views, art/history/archaeology, photography, botanical, anatomical, Tintin, Harry Potter, Japanese woodblock prints...

I also love beautiful stamps and always put care into the cards I send.

Feel free to DM me if you’d like to exchange addresses.

[45/F] Belgium - Long letter snail mail penpals from Europe or India

My name is Lena, I’m 45 and from Belgium. I’m looking for a few more meaningful penpal connections (snail mail only).

A little about me: I’m a lecturer and legal advisor at a university, a proud cat person, and the mother of a teenage son. I’ve been penpalling for well over 30 years and still love the magic of finding a handwritten envelope in my letterbox.

The things I love: India, books, the smell of second-hand bookstores, slow coffee mornings, languages (currently enchanted by Bengali), the arts, getting lost in cities, dark 80s music, handwritten letters and real conversations.

If you are looking for someone who writes every week, I may not be the right penpal for you. To each of my penpals I usually write around six to eight long letters per year, the kind you can sit down for with a nice cup of tea or coffee.

I’m open to Europe-based or India-based connections. Please be 30+.

And if writing the first letter feels daunting: don’t worry, I’m happy to do it!

Don't hesitate to pm if this speaks to you.

Decided to display some of the beautiful cards and stamps I received so far from people in India on the inside of my wardrobe, so I can see them every day ❤️

[EDIT: ALL CARDS HAVE GONE! THANKS EVERYONE WHO WANTED TO SWAP <3] I have about 35 different My Neighbour Totoro postcards that I would like to swap. I will write a personal message on the card but will send it in an envelope, as the cards are too small to send as they are (about 9×13 cm). I have many different stamps I can use, if that is something you like. Please bear in mind that I am from Europe, so the cards make take some time to arrive :)

I would really like to receive some unusual postcards in return. I like unusual places that have a story, unique art, weird cartoons, fantasy creatures, dark photography etc... everything that would fit a cabinet of curiosities :)

Feel free to dm if interested!
