So is silver rathalos intended to be fought with Valor and/or GS?

Trying to get is armor and stuff and I'm running it with striker LS. I can do it but it takes longer than I'd like because I have to play very hit and run, and the limited options of targets makes it so I have a really hard time getting to red gauge unless I get lucky with the string of moves he does, and even then I don't get much chance to make use of it.

I'm thinking maybe he is supposed to be fought with Valor and/or GS as a result. I guess this is more me asking if either I'm missing something with his fight or if just swapping weapons will make this less painful?

Edit: Nevermind that "I can do it part" I just fully timed out on my last run :(

Like I said last time I played was about 5 months ago on legendary mode and I think I only got up to that one chick with the flame bird, after I beat her I stopped playing.

So yeah is there anything important that I missed and I guess more so how do I get back into the gameplay loop I suppose? I know upgrading gear and all that stuff is very very important but I'm going to be honest I'm not exactly sure of the best ways to do that or if I should even prioritize that at the point of the game that I'm in?

I don't know basically I just need like a recap of what's new and how things work again.

I've had this happen two separate times where I've played For Honor with some friends that almost never play this game anymore and coming out of it my matchmaking seems really messed up for a while. I have put way more time into this game than they have so our skill gap is pretty large as a matter of fact one in particular isn't even comfortable with playing anything other than AI breach.

Which I'm cool with honestly I'm just happy to play with another person in the first place. Problem is I've noticed that for a while the games that I'm getting seem really really unfair. I would say there's a pretty big difference between the skill level of me and my teammates and the skill level of the opponents that I'm fighting. I usually just get stomped out for a while losing over and over and over until my matchmaking kind of fixes itself.

I just wanted to know if I'm maybe losing it or if this is actually something that happens with the matchmaking?
