Infinitybook Pro 14/15 instead of Mac

Hello, I’m considering switching back to Linux from Mac, and Tuxedo looks like an interesting option.

I’m currently looking at the InfinityBook Pro 14 and 15. For current prices, I can get a Ryzen HX 370 + 64 GB RAM for ~2100€, which seems pretty good. The price difference between the 14 and 15 isn’t that big, and even the 15 seems light and portable enough, so I’m not sure which one I’d go for yet.

I also like the Mac-like design, but I’m curious about the actual build quality and day-to-day experience. Has anyone here made a similar switch from a Mac?

I don’t love macOS, but it’s hard to complain about the hardware, great performance, quiet, and generally very polished. Battery life isn’t that important to me since I’m at my desk 90% of the time. A few hours when I need to take the laptop somewhere is enough.

My main questions are: how loud do these get under normal dev workloads, how is the build quality, and are there any common issues or annoyances? How it compares to Mac but also to more expensive linux options (Framework, Thinkpad etc)

I’d mainly use it for software development: Go, Docker, GoLand, Postman, etc. I work with a lot of microservices and run quite a few containers locally.

That’s also the main reason I’m considering switching. My current Mac has 16 GB RAM (M2 pro), which just isn’t enough anymore, and a new Mac with 32/36/48 GB gets expensive quickly. I used Linux before and liked it, so Tuxedo seems like it could be a good fit.

Just got my first galaxy tablet

Hello everyone,
I just bought a new Galaxy Tab S11, and it's not just my first Galaxy tablet, it's my first tablet ever 😄 .

I would appreciate some suggestions, some tips&tricks for a newbie in the tablet world?

Btw. I bought it mainly for two things: taking notes and reading tech books

So I see many apps recommended for handwritten notes, but do you have some suggestions?
It will be mostly used for classic writing, taking notes during meetings and maybe for some scribbles of diagrams (software development meetings). A big plus is "improving" handwriting and converting to text, since my handwriting is ugly.

Support for solid sync with Mac is also a plus. The idea is to have it later as a reference on Mac, so on Mac it would be mostly reading those notes.

Also, a solid app for reading tech books (PDFs mostly)?

Third party keyboard issue

does anyone have issue with third party keyboards?
it existed before, but it was usable.
In the last couple of weeks it became so agressive that I can’t write one word without auto-switching to default one.

I’m using 14 pro, my native language is not supported for predictive text on default one and since I type a lot and this is so annoying I’m literally considering switch to android.

I tried to disable all keyboards, all kinds of different tricks, but nothing helped.

Phone or Tablet?

Hi,
I’m currently in dillema, phone with pen or go with a tablet?
Main use case for pen is taking notes during some meetings(not every day).

The obvious choice seems to be something like the Samsung Ultra, but I’m a bit skeptical about battery life and also wondering if the screen is still too small for comfortable handwritten notes during meetings, although it’s not every day and it’s not long sessions.

That’s why I’m also considering a tablet instead.
Something like the Honor MagicPad 2/4 and keeping current phone.
I wouldn’t go flagship with tablet since my use cases would mainly be:
- handwritten notes during occasional meetings
- reading books/PDFs - mainly technical literature
- some multimedia

How good is the Honor Magic V5 with a pen in real life, does crease make it uncomfortable for writing, seems interesting choice between phone and tablet.

So Ultra, something foldable or midrange tablet?

Not sure if I actually need seperate device for my use case, so I need advice from someone who maybe used phone for similar staff.

Thanks
