So this happened last week and it's been bugging me enough that I want outside perspective instead of just fixing it and moving on.
I reset my Proton password. Standard stuff, except I never saved a recovery phrase or recovery file for Proton Pass. Turns out that's not a "forgot password, click reset" situation that's a "everything is gone forever" situation. Passwords, aliases, usernames, recovery codes, the works. My entire password vault, wiped, because of one setting I never backed up.
I had to make a new Proton account just to function again.
I got access to it but not able to get access to the past encrypted vault, as it is locked because of password reset
Once the panic wore off, I actually sat down and counted how many accounts I have, and I got uncomfortable:
There was a reason for some of it. One Proton account is just for YouTube stuff. One is only for coding/engineering/study related things. Tuta is my throwaway for random signups I don't care about. But the rest? Genuinely just accumulated over the years because at some point I convinced myself that "separating everything = being organized." Turns out it just means more surface area to lose.
I'm about to start engineering college (not a top-tier one, no illusions there) and I really want to walk in with my digital life sorted so I'm spending energy on actually learning instead of babysitting which inbox has which subscription tied to it.
Outside of classes I'm into movies, books, cinematography, photography, and coding as hobbies, so I do have genuine reasons to keep some things separate (creative work vs personal vs academic), I just clearly went overboard on the execution.
So I want to ask people who've actually lived with a system for years, not just set one up and abandoned it:
Not looking for "just use a password manager" — I was using one, that's literally how I lost everything. Looking more for how you structure things so that even if something breaks, you don't lose your whole life over it.
TLDR :
Lost my entire Proton Pass vault after a password reset because I had no recovery phrase saved. Made me realize I've got 11+ accounts across email, Instagram, and X with no real system behind most of it. Starting engineering college soon and want to rebuild my digital setup properly before classes start — looking for how people actually maintain organized, resilient systems long-term instead of over-engineering like I did.

I got back the acc but the old vault is all encrypted and i can't access it.

Can't believe this is the 1st episode of the new season and this is what they pull up with. The same boring scripted jokes were served and Samay even looked hesitant to make jokes on Alia. Commentators on YT pointed out he was asking Alia's permission before making a joke on Mahesh Bhatt. Sharvari was mostly getting ignored as expected but they made no efforts to hide the glorification of Alia which made the whole episode super boring.
I did not wrote cuet and i also know i am late. I am not able to find where i can find good colleges for bba. I got 687 in inter AP. I dont know where to find. Thats why i posted this here and also if there are any other subreddits i can post pls tell
I missed CUET.
Just finished 12th from the AP state board with 68% in PCM. Engineering is the default path everyone around me expects, but it's not something I want to do, I've been clear on that for a while now.
After researching for some time, I've been seriously looking at BBA, with a vague long-term idea of doing an MBA someday. I also have a genuine interest in media and films and not sure yet if I want to build a career around it, but something in that space appeals to me too.
My situation:
What I'm trying to figure out:
Being honest about where I stand that I am not the strongest academic profile, and I'm a bit late to the process. But I'd rather make a well-researched decision now than rush into something I'll regret. Genuine advice from people who've been through this or work in these fields would really help.
Thanks in advance.
