Unpopular opinion: Stapleton’s verse on Mumford’s “Here” is better than Sierra Ferrell’s, his voice is incredibly unique and powerful

She does great, but there’s nothing particularly special or distinctive about it in a way that stops the song dead in its tracks.

Stapleton has the sort of voice that grabs ahold of you, there is a distractingly tortured and weathered cadence to his vocalization that I honestly can’t say I’ve heard in a musician of any genre.

What temperature underquilt do most people use for lows between 45 and 60?

I have a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC and I typically camp from spring to fall but only use my underquilt when the temperatures get into the low 60s.

Is Jet Boil’s Summit the best option for a ceramic camping skillet?

I have been using a stainless steel skillet on my MSR Wind Pro II that just really does not work well with eggs no matter how much I heat it up with oil before hand.

I kayak camp on rivers and so cast iron is too heavy and carbon steel too prone to rust. It seems I will be forced to use some form of nonstick, and it appears this model has the best reviews. Can you think of a better option for me or should I just pony up the 50 bucks?

What temperature topquilt do most roll with in overnight lows between 45-55? Currently rocking a 20° Wookie in a Blackbird XLC.

I typically try to spring and fall camp no colder than 45 and prefer the 50s. Looking at Warbonnet diamondback, as I am already in their system. I tend to be a warm sleeper but as you know, it can quickly get really cold in a hammock. The biggest issue is the temperature when you get in it in the evening is typically quite a bit warmer than the overnight low.

How do you keep moisture from causing the salt in your GSI/MSR camping shaker from clumping?

I kayak camp on rivers and have tried all available brands, all end up having the same problem. I keep them in a plastic bag with the lid closed, inside my dry bag with the rest of my cookware. Do I really need a separate mini dry bag just for the salt shaker?

After typing that I’m wondering if the moisture from my recently washed and usually damp cookware doesn’t leach into the plastic baggy when they are together inside the dry bag?

The older you get, do you find even people’s mere presence more and more irritating?

I have gotten to the point where I don’t even want to be approached, and it seems like it has become harder and harder to get peace and quiet.

It’s strange because no one who knows me would describe me as an introvert, most would say I’m an affable “people person” but since working retail I have developed extreme social fatigue years of forced interaction. I’m just wondering if some of it is age influenced and normal?

Put a vacuum sealed frozen strip in fridge Friday evening. If I plan to eat tomorrow, should I just leave it in the fridge or freeze it tonight again?

I know I am kind of pushing it but I’m wondering how much I would compromise texture and flavor by freezing and thawing again

How do you feel about Stella “Lefty” hiding her Jewishness? (real name Lefkofsky)

It seems everything about her overnight viral success is manufactured, from her mediocre and plagiaristic songwriting and mediocre talent to her viral internet presence. She is the very definition of a nepotist industry plant, born of billionaire father and Groupon cofounder Eric Lefkofsky.

What bothers me most in all of this, however is her hiding her heritage. This is a time when Jews need to stand tall not tuck tail and hide behind stage monikers to ensure popularity. I guess it reminds me of the trying times we are living through.

What is the best thing to bring to help start fires when primitive kayak camping with limited space?

I have heard cotton balls soaked in Vaseline, dryer, lint, and even just plain paper or toilet paper. Currently, I only bring toilet paper and break up some sticks really small. Is there more efficient method than this that is more natural and less “cheating?”

Is it generally agreed that MagSafe power banks are not good for battery health?

I am strongly considering getting one for the convenience when kayak camping, they make a really light and thin Anker and it would be a huge bonus, not to have to mess with cords.

However, I have read that the heating overtime degrade the cells in the phone battery. What has your experience been and what is the official word from the experts?

Stella Lefty might very well be the worst industry plant in terms of talent and how obvious and artificial her placement is that I’ve ever seen. How long do we have to endure her?

How exactly can even the richest person for someone so aggressively down our throats? Even Hollywood Nepo babies have hurdles to establishing themselves in the industry, how did this chick just show up?

My biggest issue is with her lack of talent, she has zero range, her voice is really bad, and even with finally polished production, her content is extremely soulless and sterile. This is completely aside from the fact that she apparently stole her breakaway “hit.”

After handwashing my Warbonnet blackbird in the tub using Dr. Bronner’s, I noticed a faint chlorine smell. Two weeks earlier my tub was cleaned using OxyClean and Lysol power cleaner concentrate mixed with water, is it possible there was still some residual cleaner in there and what would you do?

I recently washed my blackbird using Dr. Bronner’s in my bathtub, very lightly soaking it in agitating it by hand. Afterwards, I drained, and then refilled the tub to rinse off any remaining soap, I repeated this twice and then dried it for a couple days hanging up with fans.

I noticed there is a very faint chlorine like smell in the hammock. Now, I wouldn’t call it strong by any means I was thinking back to what could be causing it, and I had someone clean my apartment recently. I asked them what chemicals they used on the bathtub, they said icy clean and this mixed with water. Over two weeks of daily showering, would there really be any residual chemicals left in the tub?

At this point, the hammock is clean, and there’s just a very faint smell of chlorine, but the perfectionist in me, and my obsession with my hammock has started bothering me, wondering what I can or should do to make sure that there are no chemicals in the fabric that could be fading or damaging them? Sorry for the long post, thanks!

Why is it so hard to find a chair that has a cupholder big enough to accommodate a yeti colster on one side and a smart phone on the other? Either the cupholders are too small or they have stupid coolers but nobody really needs.

I have almost exhausted my search

For a good bark on oven cooked ribs, am I better off using a wet/paste type rub or a completely dry rub with a binder like yellow mustard?

Cooking for 2-3 hours at 275, wrapped in foil. Refrigerating then reheating over campfire, so trying to maximize the bark and crispiness of it. I only had barbecue sauce at the very end by the campfire.

Last time I used a paste style rub with great success, however, I don’t think I’ll be able to get to the store in time to get that brand. Can I use any old dry rub in a normal spice shaker sold at the grocery store or am I much safer using that same wet paste style?

Is it pretty universally agreed that a top quilt is preferable to a sleeping bag, or do some prefer the wraparound/enclosed comfort of a sleeping bag?

Specifically for three season camping, with most of my trips taking place in the summer months where lows only get down into the 60s. I do plenty of shoulder season camping however, which this will be used for keeping me warm when it gets down in the mid 40s.
