Bosch fridge not cooling properly
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding my fridge. It’s a 3-year-old Bosch KGN497LDF.
During the recent heatwave in Europe, the fridge compartment stopped cooling properly. It couldn't reach the target 4 °C, and it took forever to drop the temperature even a little bit. Meanwhile, the freezer works perfectly fine and holds its set temperature.
Here is what we’ve checked and tried so far:
Fan behavior: We simulated closing the door to test the fan. Even though the fridge compartment was warm, the fan stopped blowing after about 30 seconds.
Sensor replacement: Thinking it was a temperature reading issue, we replaced the fridge temperature sensor, but it didn't help at all.
Inspecting the back (Evaporator panel): Today, we took off the back panel inside the fridge to get to the evaporator and the fan. Here's what we found:
◦ Burnt connector: Around the fan connector, there’s a weird black residue that looks like it caught fire or shorted out. The fan itself looks perfectly fine.
◦ Melted insulation: There is some sort of insulation tape on the evaporator that looks like it melted and shifted out of place.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? What could have caused this, and what’s actually wrong with the fridge? Any tips on what to repair or replace next would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
