Bosch dishwasher problem: damaged utensils + abnormal noise + possible heat pump issue

I bought a Bosch Series 6 dishwasher (SMS6IKI01I) in India and I am honestly not sure what I should do now.

From the beginning I started noticing some things which made me uncomfortable.

When the dishwasher was opened for installation, I noticed there was already enough water in the filter area. There were also a lot of water droplets inside and quite a few spots. I had watched many Bosch dishwasher unboxing videos before buying, and I noticed that the front door in those videos usually had a blue or golden protective film. Mine did not have any such film.

At that time I didn't think too much about it and assumed maybe this was normal.

The dishwasher does clean the dishes, but after using it I started noticing pits, discoloration, brown spots and burnt-looking spots on many of my utensils.

I informed the dealer about this from the beginning.

Bosch service technicians have already visited my house 3 times. They checked the water hardness and changed the settings, but the problem with the utensils continued.

There was also some confusion about cleaning the filter. The manual says to clean it regularly/weekly, but different technicians told me different things. One told me to clean it every day and another told me to clean it after every wash.

After some time I also started noticing an unusual noise from the dishwasher. I recorded a couple of videos. On 13 August the noise seemed much louder, so I sent the videos to the dealer. The dealer replied and told me not to use the dishwasher anymore.

One of the service technicians also told me something like, "It is not that dishwashers don't work, but your particular unit doesn't seem right."

I eventually requested a refund.

A Bosch representative also visited to collect the details for the refund request. He told me that the burnt-looking spots on the utensils could possibly be related to a heat pump problem.

Today I also spoke to some senior Bosch customer service officials, including the customer service head. They confirmed that the refund request is being processed and that it will now go to management for a decision.

So now I am waiting to see what they offer.

Either they may approve the refund, or they may offer to replace the dishwasher.

One thing I want to mention because I know people may say that this happens because of "cheap stainless steel".

I don't think that is the case here.

I also have a fairly expensive Prestige stainless steel pressure cooker, and I have seen the same kind of issue on it after using it in the dishwasher.

I have watched many YouTube videos of people using dishwashers, and they are using normal stainless steel utensils too.

So what am I supposed to do? Use some military-grade high-end stainless steel utensils just to eat normal hot food and then put them in a dishwasher?

I understand that not every type of metal or utensil is dishwasher-safe, but these are normal stainless steel household utensils. If a dishwasher is going to damage them, I would expect this to be clearly explained.

My main concern is the replacement.

I bought the dishwasher because I wanted to get rid of the daily hassle of washing dishes. My wife has a cervical issue and the maid we had earlier was not cleaning the dishes properly, so we often had to wash them again ourselves. I thought a dishwasher would solve this problem.

Instead, this has become another source of frustration. Three service visits, damaged utensils and now an abnormal noise.

I am also wondering whether the dishwasher I received was actually a brand-new unit.

I am not saying Bosch sold me a used or refurbished product. I simply don't know how to verify it.

Is there any way to check from the Bosch FD number / serial number when this particular unit was manufactured and whether it had ever been installed, serviced, returned or refurbished?

Also, if Bosch offers me a replacement, how can I make sure that the replacement is actually a brand-new unused unit and not a repaired/reconditioned one?

And finally, would you guys take the replacement or push for the refund in this situation?

Would really appreciate advice from Bosch owners or anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

Bosch 800 Series Dishwasher Not Drying Properly – Anyone Else?

I have been seeing a few Bosch 800 Series dishwasher owners mention that their dishes aren’t drying properly, even when the wash cycle finishes normally.

For example, with models like the SHP78CM5N, the dishwasher completes the cycle, but some dishes—especially plastics and items on the upper rack—are still noticeably wet.

Before assuming there’s a major component failure, here are a few things worth checking:

  • Make sure the rinse aid dispenser is filled and the rinse aid setting is adjusted properly.
  • Check that the dishwasher isn’t overloaded or blocking the spray arms.
  • Make sure the spray arms can rotate freely and aren’t clogged.
  • Clean the filter and check for food debris around the filter area.
  • Select a cycle or drying option that provides additional drying when available.
  • Give the dishwasher some time after the cycle ends before unloading, since residual heat can continue drying the dishes.

If the problem continues, it could potentially be related to the heating system, drying components, sensors, or another internal part.

For Bosch 800 Series owners:

Have you noticed your dishwasher leaving dishes wet after a cycle? What ended up fixing the problem for you?

Series 8 dishwasher leaving marks on dishes

We've had this dishwasher for over 2 years now.

Gotta say, been disappointed.

My partner insisted on getting something cheaper, me thinking expensive is going to be better, turned out our cheap Hoover did a better job at washing.

On a positive note, we didn't buy it brand new, it was from a retailers outlet as it had a damaged packaging.

I've tried several settings of water hardness and rinse aid level, yet always end up with marks on glasses, cutlery.

The door also seems to have some marks left after each cycle.

Tried different tablets too. Currently using Miele dishwasher powder as powder was supposed to be better. Stil same to be fair.

Also tried different programmes, I seem to be using intelligent the most though.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I expecting too much?

I'm based in UK. Set the water hardness according to Google's water hardness in the area. But like I said, had it set to higher number too.

Bosch Home Connect Failing

I have a bosch 100 series refrigerator. When I first got it, the device connected directly to home connect. On Aug 4 the fridge disconnected. It stayed in home connection, but said the fridge was offline, but I verified that the fridge was showing as connected in my router.

After several days of resets and simply waiting I decided to try to re-pair the fridge to the account. I cannot get the fridge to re-pair.

When I go through the app process and put the fridge into pairing mode my phone sees it fine. When I connect it to the network, I can verify the router shows it as connected, but on the FINAL STEP, the app says it failed with error H1086.

I've tried all the following:

Does anyone have any suggestions? This is a new bosch 100 series, so there is no manual WIFI setup on the fridge, just a wifi icon that you hold down to reset and re-pair.

Will pods fit in my Bosch dishwasher?

I just bought a bunch of Cascade Actionpac dishwasher pods, and before I open the container, I should ask if the Actionpacs are going to fit into the detergent dispenser of my Bosch dishwasher. Model is SHEAR75UC/24.

Bosch dishwasher question.

After my dishwasher cycle finished, this piece came off the bottom of the middle rack. It’s difficult to put back on. Am I missing a piece, or am I doing something wrong? It’s been great until now. Before I try to snap it on just wanted to check.

$2,295 Bosch HCP80641UC range hood completely failed after 4 years — Bosch refuses goodwill repair. What would you do?

I purchased my home in September 2024, with the Bosch HCP80641UC range hood included as part of the home. The kitchen was renovated in 2022, and item was purchased as part of that renovation at a cost of $2,295 (Today's listing price).

The range hood has developed an apparent internal electronic/control failure. While not in use, it randomly beeps, displays "End" ("5nd" on the display), and turns its lights on by itself, including repeatedly throughout the night. Now it does not work entirely. It has 0 functionality. the "End" beep now only occurs after trying to troubleshoot, but only beeps once. The fan, lights and timer do not work.

I contacted Bosch for assistance and performed the troubleshooting requested, which was "reset the breaker for 20 minutes". The agent offered no other support or any kind of assistance other than, "you must reach out to a paid technician." I did further independent research including resetting the applicable filter reminders, cleaning the filters and much more. The problem persists.

Bosch advised that, because the appliance is outside its one-year warranty, I must pay $179 upfront for a service call plus $20/hour. The initial representative did not meaningfully investigate the symptoms or attempt to troubleshoot the actual problem before directing me to paid service.

I then submitted a formal complaint requesting a goodwill resolution. Bosch declined, stating only that the warranty had expired, and offered to help locate a paid technician.

I understand the written warranty is one year. However, I believe it is unreasonable for a premium Bosch range hood valued at approximately $2,295 to experience an apparent internal electronic failure after only approximately four years of very light use. This is not cosmetic damage, misuse, or a consumable component.

I'm now looking for input from everyone:

  1. Is this a known issue with the HCP80641UC or similarly priced Bosch range hoods?
  2. Does this sound like a control board/touch-control failure?
  3. Is four years considered a reasonable lifespan for a premium range hood?
  4. Has anyone successfully obtained a goodwill repair from Bosch after the warranty expired?
  5. Are there other escalation options I should pursue?

I've also initiated a Better Business Bureau complaint because Bosch has declined to provide any goodwill assistance. I was surprised to see the significant number of negative consumer experiences reported through the BBB and hope Bosch will use this opportunity to demonstrate that it takes customer concerns seriously.

I'm not looking to avoid paying for legitimate maintenance or wear. I'm asking Bosch to recognize what appears to be a premature failure and provide a reasonable goodwill resolution.

I will leave you with this closing statement to help drive my point home:
Quebec's Consumer Protection Act recognizes that products should remain durable for a reasonable period under normal use, taking factors such as price and conditions of use into account, which I believe is relevant to a ~$2,295 premium range hood failing after only about four years.

Dishes comes out covered in flecks(?)

Only certain dishes, primarily some of our clay bowls and glass cups, come out covered in white flecks and dried white film. I watched that one guy’s (the everyone loves) video about dishwashers and followed all of his advice - run hot water before starting, use powder only, clean filter, rinse aid, etc. - but nothing is working. In looking at the dishwasher itself, you can see there is some nasty shit built up. We didn’t have this with our last dishwasher, so I don’t think it’s a “hard water” issue. Not sure what to do or how to resolve this. Ideas?

Edit: wow! Thanks for all the comments, everyone. I’ll start going through them one by one and troubleshooting from there. Appreciate you taking the time.

Bosch Refrigerator (freezer drawer) light died- how to replace??

Our Bosch refrigerator has a freezer drawer at the bottom, with two LED diode lights. One of the lights went out. I figured it should be an easy replace. Popped off the plastic lens, and there's a little LED diode board. It has one diode as you can see, and I managed to find the newer component to buy that has 3.

HOWEVER, I have no idea how to get it out. The little flat board appears like it would slide out. But it doesn't. Claude tells me maybe it slides out the OTHER way, once the entire white housing is pulled out and unplugged. However I can't get the white housing out- there are plenty of tabs around the sides, but none seem to budge or relieve any tension. I feel like much more prying will break something. It's also a little tough to work around it because the ice maker is just below it, with a protruding lid.

I searched the web (and Claude, and Bosch customer service) to see if I could buy the white plastic housing- so I could see how it comes out AND in case I broke the current one- but no luck.

Has anyone replaced one of these before?? It can't be that hard, it's just firmly clipped in there, but if I break it trying to get it out...then it's broken :P

Bosch says this is “normal” on my $5K+ 800 Series refrigerator — closing one door pops the other door open

I have a Bosch 800 Series French-door refrigerator that cost over $5,000, and I’ve had this issue where closing the left refrigerator door causes the right door to pop slightly open.

I recorded a short video showing exactly what happens:

https://youtube.com/shorts/EN5mnXKMGQQ?is=DDGN55lrGwBsCqko

I contacted Bosch about this previously, while the refrigerator was still relatively new. Getting service arranged was surprisingly difficult, but eventually a technician came out and adjusted the refrigerator height/level using the adjustment wheels/feet at the bottom.

I was basically told that this behavior is normal / “this is just how it is.”

I have a hard time believing that.

If I close one door of a $5,000+ refrigerator normally, I don’t think the other door should pop open. At a minimum, it makes me worry that someone could close the left door without noticing that the right door is no longer completely sealed.

The refrigerator itself is now a little over a year old, although the last service visit for this issue was less than a year ago.

A few questions for Bosch 800 Series owners or appliance technicians:

Does your Bosch 800 do this too?

Is this actually considered normal behavior for a French-door refrigerator?

Since Bosch already serviced the refrigerator for this issue and it was never really resolved, should I ask them to reopen/escalate the original service case?

Has anyone had success getting Bosch to properly address a similar issue?

I bought the 800 Series partly because Bosch markets itself as a premium appliance brand, so I’m pretty disappointed that the answer so far has essentially been that this is normal.

I’d especially appreciate input from anyone who owns the same refrigerator or services Bosch appliances.

Appliance repair (dishwasher) Oakville

Hello -

My dishwasher (Bosch) is not fully draining and giving me an E24 error. I’ve done all the steps that I, a complete newb, could work through. Found 2 small pieces of broken glass in the drain and removed them. Cycled the dishwasher and still getting that error.

Will need to call someone tomorrow. Can anyone recommend someone that is trustworthy and won’t cost an arm and a leg?

Thank you in advance.

"Rinse (only)" cycle: does it release any rinse aid?

I had a post recently about residual suds after a rinse only cycle. Comments solved the mystery (mostly) and it is likely the rinse aid. My questions now are

  1. If I run the short rinse only cycle, does the DW release any rinse aid?

  2. I'm trying to get the left over rinse aid out of my reservoir. Do i have to run full wash cycles until it is depleted, or is there a more direct way?

Yes, I know rinse aid is recommended, but SO doesn't like it. Thanks.

Bosch Dishwasher beeps after starting the cycle

Hi everyone, I just came back from vacation and noticed that there was some water left in the dishwasher. The filters are clean.
After removing the water, I started the cycle again, but after a few minutes the dishwasher starts beeping. I tried holding the power button for about a minute and then restarting the cycle, but the same thing keeps happening.
After cycle starting and start beeping there is some water left in the drainage area. I know the drainage itself is working because, when I started the cycle, I opened the door and saw that the water had been drained.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this?

Keep repairing or replace 11 year old Bosch 300 Dishwasher

We have a Bosch 300 series(SHE53T55UC/02) that recently broke down with multiple failures. We replaced the Water Inlet Valve(dreaded E15 leak) and the drain pump (E24). The dishwasher cleans better than ever before but we still get a E24(drain error) at the end of the cycle even when we have checked/cleaned/unkinked thoroughly all parts of the system and the drain is empty after a load.

All the reviews of the newer Bosch series has such disgruntled customers, I am having trouble selecting a new dishwasher to carry us for another 12 years.

How long can a Bosch 300 from 2015 live on with daily usage? What other components are liable to fail next?

I could just keep on using the dishwasher until something expensive like the heat pump assembly dies. Since we DIY everything, it's only cost of the replacement part. The only real complaint I have about it now is the rusting rack and I won't fork over hundreds of dollars to replace top and bottom racks. Husband says we should just replace it because inflation...

(True story: I got this dishwasher free from Bosch as a previous 2011 model burnt out and sent a scary plume of black smoke. I never got the fire hazard recall notice and was extremely lucky I was at home at the time and able to turn it off immediately. However Bosch Support was exceedingly terrible to deal with and they dragged their feet for 2 months.)

So I bought s 35k bosch washing machine and she lasted exactly the warranty period before dying on me. Boasch refused to extend warranty of it's own machine showing how much they trust their own quality Post warranty Repairs were expensive,

Went ahead and bought a samsung top load thinking she will serve me well.same story there as well... Warranty expired in Feb 26 and today machine need repairs worth 7k.

I wonder if this is by design and a scam from these appliances companies. How come they always conkoff at just the time warranty gets expired...

Bosch 300 series DR error - ... is it time to get a guy?

I've been getting bugged by the infamous DR error on-and-off for years now. Although dryer has been ultimately getting the job done amidst some stopping and restarting, it's gotten to a point where it drives me nuts. I've watched a good 10+ videos on this (since it seems a common issue) and I've done all the following multiple times: cleaned the lint filter, taken out and cleaned the condenser filter, cleaned out the drain pump (the area with the annoying little board that you have to ply open) with towels and removed all the lint I could, and done some thorough reach-around in that tiny little, pain-in-my-butt sump pump area. It has helped somewhat but never eliminated the issue. Once finally I got curious and ran the dryer while the sump pump area is still open and took a video. You can see the video here: it looks like the water is not getting drained; instead of going out the pump, it kind of just circles around in the area. I guess it's safe to say that there's something wrong with the drainage (lol).

Does this mean that it's finally time for me to give up trying to fix it myself and ... get a guy to come in to take care of it?

Thanks everybody.

Bosch fridge not cooling properly

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding my fridge. It’s a 3-year-old Bosch KGN497LDF.

During the recent heatwave in Europe, the fridge compartment stopped cooling properly. It couldn't reach the target 4 °C, and it took forever to drop the temperature even a little bit. Meanwhile, the freezer works perfectly fine and holds its set temperature.

Here is what we’ve checked and tried so far:

  1. Fan behavior: We simulated closing the door to test the fan. Even though the fridge compartment was warm, the fan stopped blowing after about 30 seconds.

  2. Sensor replacement: Thinking it was a temperature reading issue, we replaced the fridge temperature sensor, but it didn't help at all.

  3. Inspecting the back (Evaporator panel): Today, we took off the back panel inside the fridge to get to the evaporator and the fan. Here's what we found:

◦ Burnt connector: Around the fan connector, there’s a weird black residue that looks like it caught fire or shorted out. The fan itself looks perfectly fine.

◦ Melted insulation: There is some sort of insulation tape on the evaporator that looks like it melted and shifted out of place.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? What could have caused this, and what’s actually wrong with the fridge? Any tips on what to repair or replace next would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
