at what step of the program did you manage to stay abstinent from compulsive overeating?

Hi guys. I started the 12 step program a week and a half ago. I really try hard to delve in all the main principles of this program and i do feel that it can be my salvation. Still, while i’m currently doing the step 4, I keep overeating a lot and it happens in this same compulsive way :(
It would be really helpful if you could share your so to say “recovery timelines”, and especially cool, if you could share the milestones of your healing journey.
Thank you in advance and I wish you to have a good day!

PS. sorry for my broken English, it’s not

I try to turn every relationship I have with people into a romantic one

Almost always. With my friends, my psychiatrist, my teachers, even my parents’ friends. Even if the person is the same gender as me, or if we they are much older than me.
Like friendship is never enough. I’m ashamed of it, but I realize it’s my way of trying to escape myself by losing myself in someone else.

It almost never works tho, which is why I keep going to therapy.

Can attachment styles vary?

So I took two attachment style tests and got different results. One (mostly general/romantic relationship questions) said I’m fearful avoidant, while another (with lots of questions about friends and coworkers) said dismissive avoidant. Can both be true?

I don’t really have close friends, just acquaintances, and I’m not very motivated to form deep friendships. I also struggle with warmth in friendships and get irritated by things like hugging or overly emotional interactions.

But in romantic relationships, I’m usually very invested. I crave emotional closeness, get anxious, and can idealize partners who seem independent. At the same time, I often lose respect for or pull away from partners once they become overly emotionally available, seeing them as needy. I also hate how dependent I can become on people in relationships.

Does this sound more fearful avoidant, dismissive avoidant, or a mix of both?
